How to build a successful Beach Club: The case of Playa Juana
The Playa Juana Beach Club project was born in Mojácar as a bold commitment to transform the leisure scene on the Almeria coast. Led by José Antonio Maldonado in management and Jesús Toledo in artistic direction, the space breaks with the usual seasonality of the area by keeping its doors open 365 days a year. Its model combines gastronomy with musical entertainment, betting heavily on the afternoon session format during the weekends.
Musically, the club's identity moves away from harder sounds like hard techno to focus on more accessible genres, ranging from afro house to commercial rhythms. This versatility allows them to connect with a broad audience. The programming has evolved from a base of resident DJs towards hiring renowned international artists, assuming the economic risk involved in adapting high fees to a limited capacity of 500 people.
The consolidation of the brand involves the creation of its own concepts, such as the La Patrona party, and collaboration with external promoters. Daily management involves exhaustive control of image and sound, demonstrating that success in the leisure industry requires both business intuition and constant adaptation to the demands of the dance floor.
