Production Challenge: Hardgroove Techno Beat from Scratch

A new production challenge proposes the daily creation of an electronic music beat during the last nine days of the year. The initiative seeks to foster creative discipline and help producers overcome the dreaded blank canvas syndrome, setting aside perfectionism and industry pressures.

The first project focuses on building a hardgroove style track, taking as a reference the sound of prominent artists in the current scene such as Alarico and Chlär. The process covers everything from rhythmic sequencing with classic sounds from the iconic 909 to the synthesis of basslines and melodies using analog hardware emulations.
