The dance floor that opens to the Mediterranean

Under a pergola of dark beams, the stage at El Charcón Beach is at sand level: behind it, esparto grass umbrellas and rows of sun loungers; in the background, the sea. There is no concrete wall or sealed room. There is a wooden deck, palm trees, and an open pavilion designed for eating, lounging, and, when evening falls, dancing in the open air in front of El Charcón beach, in Mijas Costa.

Faro Playa, the beach bar and terrace

The venue shares kilometer 204.5 of the Carretera de Cádiz —El Faro urbanization— with Faro Playa, the restaurant for fresh fish, rice dishes, and drinks with a view. Upstairs you eat; downstairs, the chill out area functions as a beach club: bar, terrace, and concerts right by the waves. The Mijas City Council lists it as a seasonal beach bar, with a closure from December 15 to February 15, and the beach adds about 70 sun loungers. The crowd mixes locals from the Costa del Sol with those coming down from Fuengirola or La Cala looking for a more relaxed sunset than that of the big Marbella clubs.

House by the waves, pop on the sand

The programming is not that of a resident nightclub. What The House has turned this venue into one of the most recognizable open-air house dance floors on the Malaga coast, with day-to-night sessions and names like Stuart Patterson, Tito Pulpo, or Pat Bedeau. In parallel, Calypso brings tech house and more underground electronics —Priku, Alexis Cabrera, Mihai Pol— and CalaPop uses the same stage for a weekend of bands and DJs. The venue does not change: an open space with limited capacity, closer to tardeo (afternoon drinks) and sunset sessions than to late-night after-parties.

Season on the Mijas coast

It remains active. In 2025 and 2026, the venue reopened for the summer with house parties and concerts. It is reached via the A-7, with a U-turn at El Faro; access is on foot, by car, or by bus. During the day, the restaurant and sun loungers take center stage; on seasonal Saturdays, the dance floor facing the sea. Those looking for a central DJ booth and large-format sound are on a different map. Here, club culture fits into a Mijas beach bar precisely because the music sounds with salt, wood, and the horizon.
