KHIDI

Under the pillars of the Vakhushti Bagrationi bridge, the concrete closes over a dancefloor that took its name from the Georgian word for bridge. KHIDI was not born as a showcase venue: it was embedded in the abutment of the right bank, at the level of the Kura River, and since 2016 it has sustained a club life of international reach in Tbilisi.

The bridge as architecture

The venue is a concrete bunker wedged under the road. Traffic crosses above while below a dark, industrial, and deliberately raw dancefloor is concentrated. That contrast—the city above, the rave below—is the foundational gesture of the space. It is promoted by Tamar Axander, co-founder and visible figure also as 00rt, in a Tbilisi circuit where several key rooms have been directed by women. Unlike much of the local scene, the club is the owner of its building, and that autonomy has been decisive in resisting rent pressures and remaining open.

Two dancefloors, the same concrete

The night is articulated in two rooms. In the main one, KHIDI, the weight falls on industrial techno, EBM, and hard-edged electronic: Regal, Ancient Methods, Phase Fatale, Pablo Bozzi, Oscar Mulero, or Luke Slater have set the pulse. In G2, more contained, international guests coexist with Georgian DJs, from Boyd Schidt and OTHR to Vulkanski, Yanamaste, or Frequency Shifter. The Funktion-One system—four points on the large dancefloor, compact F1s on the sides, and a second floor also tuned in F1—sustains that sound architecture. The club also takes care of a VJ and video art culture: moving image is not decoration, it is part of the night.

Archive, body, and queer scene

KHIDI is not exhausted on the weekend. In 2018, it opened an exhibition space of about 600 m² with an exhibition by Sven Marquardt, with support from the German embassy and the Goethe-Institut. There is contemporary dance, workshops, and residencies. The Kiki and LEASH series sustain an explicit queer programming. The house rules put it in writing: safe space, search at the entrance, no liquids allowed, no photos on the dancefloor, and free attire except for costumes and uniforms. The record label, active since 2020, and the podcast uninterrupted since 2017 extend the archive beyond the doors.

Still under the bridge

Boiler Room recorded at the venue in 2019 and returned in 2022. In 2026, the club celebrates a decade and continues to open on Fridays and Saturdays, with prior registration. The dancefloor has not been converted into a traveling brand: it remains under the same bridge, with the same name.
