Live Las Ventas

Every winter, the bullring of the Plaza de Toros de Las Ventas is covered with a glazed and heated structure. On the sand, Live Las Ventas is installed: a seasonal venue that turns the bullring on Calle de Alcalá into a concert hall, party space, and electronic dance floor until the bullfighting season returns.

The ring closes and the dance floor lights up

The cycle was presented in 2022 and its first season covers the winter of 2022-2023, with Plaza 1 and Nautalia Live at the start of the project and Fluge Audiovisuales as the exclusive provider of sound, lighting, and video. It is not a permanent nightclub: the dome is raised in the ring, opens by programming, and is dismantled when spring arrives. Inside there is a single covered venue, with a stage, four bars, a food stand, cloakroom, ticket office only on event days, smoking area—the interior is smoke-free—and space reserved for people with reduced mobility. It does not have its own parking; around the plaza, there is a blue and green zone.

Winter electronics under the dome

The lineup mixes pop, rock, urban, and residencies, but dance floor culture has found its own winter here. In October 2023, Hivernacle, a Barcelona ephemeral club brand, debuted in Madrid inside Live Las Ventas—it is not the name of the venue—with Mathame, and continued with Colyn, Jan Blomqvist, and BLOND:ISH. In subsequent seasons, the dome has hosted Pawsa, Andrés Campo, Maceo Plex, or Robin Schulz, in addition to I Love by DJ Nano, Premier, and LOS40 Dance. The typical format of those afternoon sessions goes from the afternoon to midnight: you dance with winter light and the volume of the ring, not with the clock of an after-party until dawn.

Seventy thousand people and a calendar out of sync with clubbing

The second season, closed in March 2024, brought together more than 70,000 attendees and consolidated the venue as a stable winter event, not as a single-weekend festival. Those looking for electronic music should look at the lineup: the same venue hosts club nights and concerts by Malú, Saratoga, or Latin Mafia. The most direct access is the Ventas metro, lines 2 and 5, opposite Calle de Alcalá, 237. When the dome is dismantled, Las Ventas returns to bullfighting. When the cold returns, Live Las Ventas is installed again.
