From drive-in cinema to the big dancefloor

On the site of the old Autocine Málaga, in the Guadalhorce industrial estate, Málaga Forum was born in 2024 so that the city would stop looking to Madrid or Barcelona when it wanted a ten-thousand-person stage. The venue occupies 16,000 m² next to the Azucarera Intelhorce road, a step away from the airport, and is presented with a capacity of up to 10,000 standing spectators or 4,000 seated. Where cinema was once watched from the car, now tours, festivals, and club nights on a festival scale enter.

A venue that splits into three

The operation is articulated in a main stage, covered tent, and a social area with a restaurant and chill-out. Each zone can function alone or as a block. The tent supports concerts and audiovisual setups when the sky is not enough; the exterior absorbs the large format. The layout is reconfigured per event: there is a VIP zone, parking nearby, backstage, and loading access separated from the public. It is not a nightclub with a fixed DJ booth, but a production venue that changes its skin every weekend.

The summer that put Málaga on the circuit

The public breakthrough came with Selvatic Málaga Fest. On June 22, 2024, Andy y Lucas inaugurated the musical programming with sold-out tickets before full capacity. That same summer, Black Eyed Peas played for the first time in the capital, before more than 8,000 people, with technical delay included and a Spanish flag at the closing. Since then, Anuel AA, Arcángel, and Juan Luis Guerra have passed through its stage, and the venue has continued to add urban pop, rock, comedy, and international dates.

Large-format clubbing, not a neighborhood session

Electronic music enters in XXL format: the calendar has programmed elrow and other club nights of thousands of people, not a weekly residency. The venue continues to offer drive-in cinema, private dinners, brand activations, and gastronomic festivals. It opens according to the event, with variable doors and closing times. Between the illuminated tent and the stage lawn, Málaga Forum has turned a peripheral drive-in cinema into the venue where the Costa del Sol tests if it can sustain big nights all year round.
