The concrete of Santa Quiteria after the earthquake

The earthquakes of May 11, 2011, left the Santa Quiteria fairgrounds out of service: a livestock market opened in 1951 and, since 1968, the historic home of SEPOR. The 2015 demolition did not close that fair vocation; it displaced it towards a new building. On December 30, 2022, with the Film Symphony Orchestra in the Auditorio Margarita Lozano, Lorca officially inaugurated IFELOR: 14,823 square meters built on a 17,000 plot and 18 million euros of FEDER and municipal funds.

A four-story palace, not a fixed nightclub

The white facade of vertical slats—with the word ifelor in sight—organizes a multipurpose infrastructure program. In the basement, there are 150 parking spaces; on the ground floor, three exhibition pavilions and a restaurant-bar; in the middle, three conference rooms with 200, 100, and 60 seats; upstairs, the auditorium with 880 seats and a 1,000 m² terrace. LED, home automation control, zoned climate control, public address system, complete stage box, and photovoltaic panels on the roof. In the concert hall, 220 Showtec and Infinity luminaires were installed. The venue is set up and emptied according to the calendar: fair, congress, theater, or dance floor.

Twelve hours of remember in the pavilions

The best-documented electronic occupation is 90's & 2MIL. In November 2025, the festival sold out and filled the pavilions for twelve hours of dance and remember—Kate Ryan, Javi Boss, Dani BPM, Vicente Ferrer, lasers, and food trucks—. The 2026 event again announces the venue as the headquarters. There is no resident club: it is a multipurpose space that, when a macro-party enters, functions as a dance floor venue on a city scale. The rest of the year, SEPOR, FERAMUR, manga salons, game parties, and the auditorium programming weigh in.

In February 2026, the City Council imposed the official name of Alcalde Francisco Jódar Alonso Fair and Congress Palace, in recognition of the mayor who promoted the work in the decade of reconstruction. The acronym IFELOR remains the brand used by the public, ticket sellers, and the facade itself. The Auditorio Margarita Lozano—theater, dance, and concerts, with a cloakroom, dressing rooms, and accessible seats—concentrates stable stage life; the pavilions remain Lorca's instrument when it needs fair or long-night capacity.
