The beast that roared again in the Vega Baja

On October 25, 2025, with the Renacer party, Marco Zaragoza reignited a venue that his grandfather had left silent as a nightclub. The 23-year-old DJ did not open a new club: he awakened Thamesis Club, the complex that Pepe Zaragoza built in the eighties in Redován and which came to be remembered as the largest nightclub in Europe. For almost three decades the venue stopped operating as a club, but the building did not disappear: it remained alive as a hall for weddings and celebrations. The relaunch is an act of family continuity rather than an inauguration.

Twelve thousand meters, five hundred pesetas, and buses to the door

Pepe says that Thamesis was born out of saturation. After two smaller venues, people didn't fit and the leap was to a 12,000 square meter complex with five rooms. On big nights, the founder estimates between 8,000 and 10,000 people in a single session. It wasn't just a dance floor with a bar: there were several musical environments, a burger-style cafeteria, arcade games, a space to watch soccer, and a swimming pool. Admission cost 500 pesetas and included a drink, access to all rooms, and a number for weekly car or motorcycle raffles. Buses came from Valencia, Murcia, Cartagena, Almería, Yecla, or Alcoy, and the venue itself organized round trips. Those who returned to social media in 2025 continued to call it a cathedral.

Polynesia, XTC, and Dark Room under the same roof

The new stage recovers the multi-room logic. In Renacer, three of the five rooms were opened: Polinesia for mákina, dance, and remember, with historical residents and names like Chumi DJ; XTC for house and techno, with Irregular Live and Óscar Madrid; and Dark Room for hard techno. The official website highlights the terrace with a retractable roof, open to the stars until dawn. There is no fixed calendar night: there are appointments. The 39th anniversary, on October 3, 2026, is announced from 5:00 PM to 7:00 AM, with afternoon classics and contemporary electronic early mornings.

A family temple that returns to measure the Alicante night

At the foot of Avenida de la Constitución, with a parking lot at the door that reveals the scale of the venue, Thamesis returns to mix clubbing, remember, and big parties from the 90s and 2000s. The challenge is no longer to prove that the myth existed. It is to check if that temple of the Vega Baja, asleep as a nightclub for almost thirty years, can mark a generation again.
