A country house turned into a dance floor map

The tour of Carmen24 does not resemble that of a conventional urban nightclub: the venue unfolds next to the Bigastro to Jacarilla Road, in the Vega Baja orchard, as a complex of rooms, green areas, terraces and production spaces designed for large-format events. Its history is inseparably linked to Metro Dance Club, an electronic institution that opened in Bigastro in 1991 and turned this peripheral enclave into one of the pilgrimage points of the Levantine club culture.

Eight spaces and an expanded architecture

The physical identity of Carmen24 is supported by its 36,000 m2 of venue, with 8 independent spaces and two areas mainly intended for parking. It does not function as a single closed room, but as a modular system that can be activated in parts or as a whole. Its interior and exterior areas allow for very different uses: concerts, festivals, club sessions, gastronomic events, presentations and private celebrations. Among its main areas, spaces such as Patio, Living Room, Dance Floor, Pinada, Palmera, Urban Food and Corner stand out, although the useful reading for the public is that of a multi-room venue with gardens, bars, permanent toilets, catering area and large outdoor surfaces.

The Metro legacy within Carmen24

Carmen24 should not be confused with a specific party. It is the physical venue that hosts different proposals, including the programming of Metro Dance Club, a historical brand associated with techno, deep house, avant-garde electronics and the dance floor culture of southeastern Spain. Its calendar includes its own events, external promoters, remember cycles and large electronic sessions. In recent years, names such as Oscar Mulero, Sven Väth, Indira Paganotto, Fatima Hajji, 999999999, Onur Özer, Anja Schneider or Quest have appeared in its programming, maintaining the connection between rave memory, contemporary dance floor and international programming.

Between Alicante, Murcia and the culture of displacement

The Carmen24 experience requires planning the arrival: it is not in the center of a large city, but at a connection point between Alicante, Murcia, Orihuela, Torrevieja and the municipalities of the Vega Baja. That location reinforces its character as a destination, with ample parking, transport services for events and a very strong relationship with clubber communities that travel specifically for a date. Its current value lies in combining infrastructure, history and flexibility: it can be a concert hall, open-air festival, electronic club or multidisciplinary space without losing the memory of Metro as a cultural core.
