Biography of Metro Dance Club
The Chalet That Made History
Metro Dance Club is a wonderful anomaly. Located in Bigastro (Alicante), it began its journey in the late 80s (officially in 1991), turning an old farmhouse/chalet and a summer cinema into one of the most important and avant-garde electronic music complexes in Europe. Affectionately known as "El Chalet", Metro has created a universe of its own, far from the big capitals.
Founded by José Ramón Navarrete, Metro is much more than a nightclub; it is a pioneering "immersive experience". Its labyrinthine structure, with multiple indoor and outdoor spaces, invites clubbers to get lost and explore. It is a bastion of club culture that has endured for over 30 years thanks to an unwavering loyalty to its principles.
Philosophy and Musical Style: Passion for Techno
The Metro sound is top-quality Techno, Tech House, and House. But beyond the genre, its philosophy is the "Metro Family". The close treatment, the absence of exclusive VIP areas, and the passion for music create a unique community atmosphere.
Its spaces are legendary: the Dance Floor (the old cinema) for the darkest techno; the Living Room for groovy House; El Patio for dancing under the palm trees and the stars; and the Corner for more experimental sounds.
Highlighted Events: Festivals at Home
Every party at Metro feels like a mini-festival. Its anniversaries, "Summer Party" events, or "Original" events attract people from all over Spain. They have hosted legends like Richie Hawtin, Laurent Garnier, Solomun, or Maceo Plex in an environment that they themselves describe as "magical" and "different" from any other club.
Ticket management (sometimes linked to names like Carmen Juan on platforms) has always maintained a personal touch. Metro has known how to evolve technically without losing the rustic and welcoming essence of its origins.
Impact on the Scene
Metro Dance Club is proof that avant-garde culture can be created from the periphery. It has put Bigastro on the world map. Its survival and success are a case study on how to create a brand with a soul. For many, Metro is not a club, it is their home.
