A Ruzafa garage turned up to full power

On Calle Cuba, the venue acts as a dark container where light, volume, and the urge to sing take charge. Play Club has spent over a decade—with continuity since 2013—occupying two floors in the heart of Ruzafa, far from the posturing of fancy drinks and close to a motto the venue itself has turned into a brand: No VIP, Just players. Indietronica, mashups, and perreo don't take turns: they coexist.

Main Room downstairs, Hottest in Town upstairs

The club is read vertically. On the ground floor, the Main Room (325 m², bar and DJ booth) is the territory of hits, indie, pop-rock, and sing-along electronic music. This is where resident DJs and those linked to the house have settled, such as The Wisemen Project, Neoverbeneo, Ley DJ, Jotapop, Obtuso, or Fat Gordon, an almost mythical figure in the booth. Upstairs, Hottest in Town (150 m²) focuses on reggaetón, trap, and dembow: on Fridays, Kiki rules with raw perreo; on Saturdays, urban hits from now and then. It is not a club with a single label, but a hinge venue between the indie concert culture and the Latin dance floor.

Tardeo, post-punk, and the queer Sunday

Valencia doesn't wait for midnight. On Saturdays, Verbena turns the disco into a village festival from 17:00, with air conditioning and great hits from yesterday and today. On Fridays, Copea opens another tardeo of pop, Spanish rock, rumba, and indie, with live acts and DJs, designed to kick off the weekend right after leaving the office. In 2024, the Main Room debuted Ruido Rosa, a night of post-punk, hyperpop, and echoes of neo-bakalao promoted with Discos Oldies and the club's programming team—including Lucía Poncelas (Sugar Mami)—so that the energy of the concert doesn't dilute into an offer of only techno or reggaetón. On Sundays, Churros con Chocolate and GiGi have made the end of the week an LGTBIQ+ ritual in the city. Play also operates as a post-party for local events like Bigsound.

DJ booth, cloakroom, and a dance floor with no dress code

The venue is rented out during the week for private events and DJ sessions; live concerts are not included in that formula. There is a cloakroom, card payments at the box office and bars, and accessible restrooms. It does not publish a dress code: free dress, with the exception of not entering dirty, wet, or with clothing that makes others uncomfortable. The communication—rowdy, street-style, unfiltered—fits a dance floor where a mashup and a dembow can play just a few meters apart, and where the unwritten rule remains the same: anything can happen.
