The lawn that didn't give in to the downpour

A cloudburst of intensity fell in 2023 over Holbæk Fælled while Thomas Helmig and Nik & Jay played for 15,000 people. The secret was underfoot: a drained grass carpet that turned the municipal meadow of Arenavej into Rockbæk Arena. The Zealand press calls it Holbæk Arena; the box office, Rockbæk Arena. The same venue: an open field, without a nightclub wall, with a truss stage, side LED screens, and an audience sitting or standing on the green.

A one-day venue

The Rockbæk association, non-profit and supported by volunteers from all over the region, has been organizing concerts in Holbæk since 2015. The leap to the Fælled as a concert arena came in 2023, after a blank year. President Jørn Hedemand has said it bluntly: they don't want a multi-day festival. They want a one-day venue, with big names from the Danish scene and a setup that is built and dismantled around a late summer date. In 2025, with Carpark North, Hugorm, Andreas Odbjerg, and News, they estimated between 6,500 and 7,000 attendees. In 2026, with The Minds of 99, Medina, Mille, and Kind Mod Kind, the goal rose towards 20,000 tickets.

Pop and dance floor under the Holbæk sky

There is no resident booth or permanent club system. There is an open-air arena where dance-pop and Danish rock share the same grass. Medina, a central figure in Danish dance-pop, took the stage in 2026 amidst keyboards, LEDs, and the name ROCKBÆK on the front. The main access is via Lillevang. There is a VIP area, food area, parking, cashless venue, and a space for wheelchairs. The access regulations prohibit biker patches, gangs, or groups. Hundreds of volunteers—between 400 and 500 in a recent edition—set up and dismantle the square. DSB reinforces trains to Copenhagen and the 501A bus brings you closer to the station. Since 2015, the association has donated more than 1.4 million kroner to local entities and social causes. Between concerts, the field returns to being a fælled.
