Sala Kaya Santander

Recycled J opened Sala Kaya Santander in a three-story building next to the McDonald's in Nueva Montaña, after years of interrupted construction and neighbor suspicion due to the school next door. It was not a Cantabrian club changing owners: it was the first venue outside Madrid for Elevant Kaya, the project of Diego and Nacho Álvarez that already operated in Guadarrama. The City Council presented it as a cultural facility comparable to Escenario Santander; the file authorized it both as a nightclub and a concert hall. The neighborhood, which was not an entertainment district, asked for time. The promoters promised controlled capacity, advance sales, and respect for the environment.

A 3,600-meter black box

The physical commitment is large-format: more than 3,600 m² spread over three floors, 14 VIP boxes with a privileged view of the stage and bottle included, priority access for reduced mobility, and a maximum communicated capacity of 1,000 people (700 seated). Three bars on different floors and a general dancefloor in front of the stage complete the venue. The Álvarez brothers spoke of a moldable space, with heavy investment in lighting, sound, and electronics so that every night changes its skin. The stated goal was to give Cantabria, outside of summer, a private venue for a thousand people capable of attracting tours that otherwise do not stop in Santander.

Concert at eleven, club until six

The model copies that of Guadarrama and is read in the FAQ itself: on concert days, doors usually open at 10:00 PM and the live show at 11:30 PM; parties go from 12:00 AM to 6:00 AM. The audience can stay after the concert. The opening agenda mixed Recycled J and Café Quijano with Maldita Nerea, Omar Montes, Juan Magán, Beret, Yung Beef, or Duncan Dhu. In parallel, the dancefloor has programmed DJ Nano, Andrés Campo, Bob Sinclar, Fever Monday, and Héctor Oaks. It is not a club of a single aesthetic: it is the same black box for rap, pop, rock, remember, and dancefloor electronics.

Fridays and Saturdays in an industrial neighborhood

Kaya chose Nueva Montaña because it is close to the center, well connected by Cercanías and TUS, and far enough away not to fight for the leisure of El Sardinero. In 2026, the website of the Santander headquarters remains anchored to Fridays and Saturdays: national concerts and club nights in the same venue. The experiment is not a touring brand or a resident party: it is a physical venue for a thousand people that tries to ensure that Santander has, all year round, a private room where live music and the club fit.
