YOLO, the K-pop night that became a national circuit

In the clubs of Tokio, the motto You Only Live Once stopped being a slogan to become a recurring appointment: YOLO, the K-pop party that DJ KENTA launched and which today is presented as one of the biggest in Japan. The format mixes music videos, cover dance, and a DJ booth designed for the audience to fully enter the dance floor, with residencies such as WARP Shinjuku and editions in Osaka, Fukuoka, Sapporo, Nagoya, and Sendai. It is considered a pioneer of that club scene, with gatherings of hundreds of people per month and occasional appearances alongside K-pop figures such as Minzy, from 2NE1, or Jay Park. In 2023, the project even jumped to a baseball stadium, when the Rakuten Golden Eagles presented him as the producer of YOLO and as the same artist who, since April of that year, also signed as Cody-K.

Cody-K from Tokyo, from the 2k21 label to WOMB

Under the name Cody-K, the same deejay crossed over into electronic production with an explicit identity stamp: from Tokyo. In 2023, he released Techno Freaks with NAWON and Justin Owen and the EP Cody K from Tokyo; the following year he consolidated his contract with 2k21 RECORD LABEL, Owen's house focused on Asian club culture. The track Techno Bunker, signed with Owen, exceeded 100,000 streams and established a dense, dance-floor techno. The catalog has been expanding with DAIMONJI together with TEN-JUN, Time Slip, Umpa, I Need U with D'JAMM, Kasukabe Retro with KO-HEI, or pieces for the sub-label TECH MAFIA RECORD. That sound—electro house, tech house, and the ASIA TECH project—has made him a regular at WOMB in Shibuya. In 2024, he made the leap outside of Japan as a guest at the AZIT club in Busan.

Two booths, one same dance-floor producer

In Tokyo, he maintains activity in venues such as Shibuya T2 and Shinkiba AGEHA, in addition to CROSS ROPPONGI, Tide, or CLUB SANGO in Nagoya. There is no public booking agency: hiring is managed via direct message. The current portrait is that of a 2k21 producer who continues to be, every weekend, the host of YOLO: K-pop at the party, techno and tech house in the catalog, and an identity that posters summarize without ambiguity as Cody-K from Tokyo.
