Biography of Job Jobse
The Trouw bathroom as a first booth
Few Dutch electronic music trajectories start with such a club-centric gesture: Job Jobse played his first set in the restrooms of Trouw, the venue that was born above Club 11 and defined a generation in Amsterdam. At seventeen, he snuck into that club, got hooked on the dancefloor and the community, and went from a weekly listener to organizing Drukpers, programming nights, and ending up as head booker. His sound—house, disco, techno, and classic trance, with nods to early rave—is built as a selection, not as a catalog of his own productions.
From Berlin to Life and Death
In August 2010, he moved to Berlin to work in the Innervisions offices. Half a year later, Trouw called him back as an assistant booker, and he soon moved on to manage bookings. In April 2012, he booked Tale of Us for the first Life and Death label night, opened the set himself, and convinced the team. Shortly after, he played at their party at Club Der Visionaere and, that summer, accepted the role of label manager: signing artists and focusing on DJing full-time. After the closure of Trouw, he was a resident at De School, now also closed, and maintained his bond with the city through Strangelove parties, where he invites artists with whom he shares a musical ear.
De Vlieger and Planet Strangelove
In 2018, he founded De Vlieger to release music by friends and unsigned talents: the debut of Karel and an album by Elias Mazian marked the start. In 2025, he launched Planet Strangelove, which was born with remixes of Pasion de Pianoman by Alex Kassian, The Trip, and Andy Stoddon, and has also released music by Sam Alfred and Maruwa. The label extends the logic of his nights and mixes like Dagen van Diamant: releasing what he wants to hear on the dancefloor.
The map of a global selector
His name circulates through Boiler Room—Amsterdam, Brussels, Isolation, AVA Belfast—, the BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix in April 2022, the RA.462 podcast, and stages like Dekmantel, Melt, Glastonbury, Circoloco at DC-10, Panorama Bar, Tomorrowland, Pitch Music and Arts, or Lentekabinet, where his magnetism emptied the venue in 2024. At the 2026 Amsterdam Dance Event, he headlines an extended set at the Gashouder, returning to the city where he started. He is represented by Octopus Agents.
