The Loft Amsterdam

From the seven-meter windows on the sixteenth floor, the IJ and the center of Amsterdam enter the dance floor as if they were part of the venue. The Loft Amsterdam occupies the penthouse of the A'DAM Toren, the former Shell tower converted in 2016, and does not operate as a weekly nightclub: it opens when there is a date that deserves the height.

A double-height penthouse over the IJ

The TANK studio designed it in 2016 with the flair of a rock star's residence: a double-height room, herringbone parquet, exposed concrete, vertical neons, a vinyl library, and guitars as props. It exceeds 400 m²—the largest event space in the tower—and the mobile furniture allows for a transition from dinner or presentation to a dance floor without changing venues. The sixteenth floor is always rented exclusively. A green marble kitchen can operate as a bar. The view is not a backdrop: it is the very architecture of the space, with the water at your feet and the skyline in front.

Afterhours when Amsterdam has already closed

What consolidated its name in club culture was not a fixed resident, but the afterhours by Audio Obscura during the Amsterdam Dance Event. With the rest of the city's venues closed, it has opened at dawn for high-voltage house and techno, with the sunrise streaming through those same windows. On that dance floor, artists such as Solomun, Adriatique, Job Jobse, DJ Tennis, and Eelke Kleijn have played, among others. ADE has included it as a venue at least since 2017. The house itself summarizes it without inflating the myth: from time to time, a party with top-tier DJs, and now also a stage for live artists.

Physical venue, not a nomadic brand

The Loft is not a promoter that jumps from warehouse to warehouse: it is a stable penthouse inside the music tower of Amsterdam North, the same building that houses Sony Music, MassiveMusic, the Sir Adam hotel, and, on another floor, the Shelter club. It distinguishes itself from that circuit by the light, the altitude, and the occasional format. The DJ booth or stage is set up according to the night; official rentals include party lighting and sound reinforcement. In ADE 2026, its own programming mixes afterhours, house, and festival closings, from Hunee to Franky Rizardo or the Warehouse Project.

A room that is assembled and disassembled

That intermittency is part of its character. There is no eternal commercial Saturday: there are specific dates and the feeling of being in a private apartment sixteen floors above the IJ. Whoever goes up, goes up to a specific venue, with parking under the tower and the F3 ferry one minute from the shore. The rest of the year the same space remains an event hall; when club night falls, the view does the work of any decor.
