The end of a decade-long wait: 'Repeat It' sees the light

Dutch producer Martin Garrix and British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran have officially released the single "Repeat It" via the label STMPD RCRDS. The track, originally conceived in 2014 in Nashville, was released to the market this Friday, May 15, 2026. The formal announcement was made coinciding with the celebration of Garrix's thirtieth birthday and the rollout of his current American tour, which includes performances at venues such as the Movistar Arena.

Chronology of an 'ID' held back by record label conflicts

Known in its early stages of development under the title "Rewind Repeat It", the collaboration debuted live during Garrix's performance on the main stage of the Ultra Music Festival in Miami in March 2015. Despite the anticipation generated in the community, the official release was blocked indefinitely. The producer himself later attributed this stagnation to complications and contractual disagreements with his former label, Spinnin' Records, prior to his independence in 2016.

After twelve years in the archives, the definitive studio version features co-production by artists Mesto and Osrin. In parallel with the audio release, an official music video directed by Liam Pethick has been distributed, which is composed entirely of visual material documenting the lives and trajectories of both musicians over the last decade.

I thought it would never see the light of day officially. I'm really proud that we can finally release this together, this song means a lot to both of us.

Transition towards pop-dance and catalog consolidation

The release of "Repeat It" resolves one of the longest-running narratives regarding unreleased tracks in the electronic industry. The adaptation of the original work towards a more polished production structure evidences a strategy oriented towards commercial crossover, fusing EDM with acoustic elements. This move by STMPD RCRDS capitalizes on historical fan demand and strengthens Garrix's independent repertoire in a stage of professional maturity.
