The patio that pretended to be another city

In the industrial corridor of East Williamsburg, a block patio disguised itself as an oasis: palm trees, vertical gardens, and an open-air dance floor while warehouses and Newtown Creek continued around it. That was Brooklyn Mirage, the outdoor piece of Avant Gardner at 140 Stewart Avenue. Cityfox rehearsed it in 2015 as a temporary space at 99 Scott Avenue; in 2017 Jürgen Billy Bildstein turned it into a stable venue. Whoever went up the walkways or to the observation tower saw Brooklyn and Manhattan and understood the name: a Mediterranean club mirage stuck in a New York industrial park.

From projections to the 15K wall

The first summers bet on Projektil mapping and a KV2 Audio VHD5.0, with subwoofers at dance floor level, designed to sound clean outdoors. The 2022 mutation changed the scale: an LED screen of about 200 by 30 feet and 15K resolution, more than a thousand panels, and a stage roof of about 100 feet from HEINI, without pillars that broke the view. The venue stopped looking like a garden party and became a festival production box, with six bars and a food area in the complex. On that dance floor, Carl Cox, Black Coffee, Keinemusik, Armin van Buuren, or Aphex Twin sounded. DJ Mag put the complex in its Top 100 Clubs (22nd in 2024 and 17th in 2025). Next to the patio, The Great Hall and Kings Hall covered the rest of the year.

The season that didn't return

The calendar was from May to October, often from day to night, with lockers and coat check inside a venue of about 80,000 square feet. After 2024 it closed for a multi-million dollar renovation. In May 2025 the New York Department of Buildings did not grant the permits and the so-called Mirage 4.0 did not premiere. In August Avant Gardner filed for bankruptcy. The outdoor venue was demolished in 2026. In June of that year, Pacha New York opened on the same site, with its own license and no brand continuity. Brooklyn Mirage remained as the name of a physical club that was built, enlarged, and torn down.
