La Noria as an underground dance floor

Below the terrace and restaurant of Bulan, in the La Noria street area, Bulan Social Club functions as a nighttime extension of the venue: a dance space integrated into an old house in the center of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Its public launch as a club took place in November 2018, when Bulan announced the opening of the lower part of the establishment as a Dance Music Club with Fran Cabello and residents Tito García and Miguel Bermúdez. That condition of a club within a gastronomic and drinks venue marks its personality: a contained, urban, and close scale, oriented more toward booth programming than large format.

A proximity electronic identity

The recent agenda presents it as an electronic music club with DJ sessions and monthly programming. Its musical framework moves between house, techno, electro, tech house, minimal, nu-disco, balearic, and occasional drum and bass appointments. More than a club linked to a single brand, it acts as a platform for promoters and collectives on the island: proposals such as Carne Fiesta, Modular, Toscal Records, New Wave, La Movida, and dates linked to club circuits like Aquasella On The Road have passed through its booth. In that context, local and visiting names appear such as Santiago Ritacco, Gerson, Igna, Miguel Mones, Jose Hdez, Fherni, Alain Fanegas, Jadez, or Pakito Calvo.

Between restaurant, terrace, and club

The venue is part of the Bulan Restaurante & Chill Out universe, whose name comes from the Malay term for moon and which works with an aesthetic of Balinese inspiration, vegetation, warm lights, and bar spaces. The night experience combines a terrace, cocktail bar, and an indoor club area, with events that usually take place on a variable schedule and with late-night closings. On specific dates, a terrace and smoking area have been announced within the club's operation, in addition to limited wristbands for exit and re-entry, which reinforces its use as a party venue with controlled capacity.

A small node in the Canary Islands scene

Bulan Social Club occupies a useful position within the Canarian electronic scene: it does not behave like a macro-nightclub, but as a proximity venue for collectives looking for a more intimate capacity in the center. Its location, a few minutes from the Teatro Guimerá tram and several bus stops, facilitates a more pedestrian relationship with the night of Santa Cruz. In practice, the club functions as a crossing point between the local public, emerging promoters, resident DJs, and traveling events; a secondary but active piece on the map of Tenerife clubbing.
