James Ruskin opens a warehouse that had already been heard

On February 14, 2026, James Ruskin headlined the first night signed as Detroit Club, with Cecilia Tosh and Aaron Bleek. The venue's own archive marks that date as the inauguration. It was not an empty lot: the same warehouse in Passatge Can Polític, in Hospitalet de Llobregat, had been operating as a club for years, tucked away near the industrial zone and the metro, far from the nightlife circuit of downtown Barcelona.

The Garage, the room's previous life

Since 2019, the venue operated as The Garage Club, a dancefloor for the The Bass Valley project, a production and DJ school that installed the room on the ground floor of the building. Pioneer Pro Audio documented an XY system there designed for club and live use. When describing the subsequent renovation, Voice-Acoustic places Dave Clarke, Misstress Barbara, Ben Klock, Oscar Mulero, Ben Sims, Surgeon, and Regis in that continuity. The venue was born as a sound box: a converted, dark, single-room warehouse designed for pressure rather than decor.

Six Ikarray and a close encounter with the bass

In 2025, the space reopened renovated. Francesc Güell (VTècnics en Ruta) and Javi Limones (BOLO PRO AUDIO) installed a Voice-Acoustic system: six Ikarray-8, four Paveosub-218, and one Score-8, with VADAS amplifiers. The club summarizes it in a phrase it repeats as a motto: the most powerful sound in Catalonia; you hear it and you feel it. The room remains unique. There is a glass-enclosed booth, a side bar, iron columns, block walls, and a ceiling of spotlights, fans, and LEDs. The techno hits head-on: there is no labyrinth of rooms or flashy terrace.

Raw techno a step away from the Carrilet

Current programming focuses on industrial techno, hard techno, drum and bass, and hardcore. Nights hosted by the club itself coexist with collectives that rent the venue. Doors usually open at 23:59 and the usual closing time is 06:00. The most logical access is the L1 metro, between Bellvitge Rambla Marina and Avenida Carrilet, plus the night bus at Plaza de Amalvígia. Detroit Club is understood today as an underground sanctuary inspired by the industrial roots of the city that gives it its name: dancefloor, sound, and little else.
