Under the red light of La Latina

The industrial aesthetic and underground pulse mark the personality of Hangar 48, a venue that occupies Calle de Bailén 24, next to the axis of La Latina and Las Vistillas. The room opened in October 2017 with a proposal renewed on the memory of the old Sala Vendetta, a space with more than two decades of previous trajectory. That starting point explains its double reading: it does not function only as a concert hall or as a conventional nightclub, but as a hybrid venue where live music and club culture share the calendar.

Three levels to go from the stage to the dance floor

The space is organized into two floors and three differentiated zones. The Red Room concentrates the part most linked to clubbing; the mezzanine incorporates a VIP area for reservations; and the Underground Club, on the lower floor, alternates concerts and night sessions. The whole works with a dark aesthetic, brick, red lighting, a bar, and a relatively close scale, more designed for immersion and contact with the booth than for the massive format. The technical information published by the room itself reinforces that orientation: Tecnare PA in the Red Room, JBL system in the Underground, and booth equipment with Pioneer, Technics, Rodec, and Allen & Heath, in addition to an LED screen and stage lighting.

A program that does not separate guitars and electronics

The musical identity of Hangar 48 starts from a broad idea of programming. Live, rock, jazz, soul, funk, hip hop, reggae, ska, folk, latin, and other forms of black or roots music coexist. In its club agenda, the focus shifts towards electronics, from disco house and house to techno proposals and more current dance floor sounds. That coexistence defines a room useful for emerging artists, bands with a loyal audience, local DJs, and promoters looking for a central environment without losing the underground atmosphere.

An active node of Madrid's nightlife

In practice, Hangar 48 operates with variable programming: concerts usually start in the evening and electronic sessions occupy the 00:00 to 06:00 time slot when the event requires it. Its location, near the La Latina metro and several EMT stops, facilitates both access from the center and the night out. In addition to musical activity, the venue offers a cloakroom, bar, WiFi, access, and an adapted bathroom, and can be rented for private events, filming, and audiovisual productions. That combination of room, club, and flexible space explains its place within the Madrid scene: a compact, active, and recognizable venue, with a dance floor vocation but without abandoning the room culture.
