Concrete, waves, and chasnera stone

Geometric pieces of concrete with chasnera stone aggregate emerge from the tourist soil of Costa Adeje like a circle of monoliths. Above them, a fluid roof of fiber-cement and zinc panels folds like solidified lava and an Atlantic wave. The palace, signed by Fernando Menis, Felipe Artengo, and José María Rodríguez-Pastrana, was inaugurated on November 22, 2005, with the King and Queen of Spain. From the hillside, it is silhouetted against the sea and the outline of La Gomera, a step away from the Southern highway.

A venue that changes shape

There is no fixed nightclub dance floor: there is a congress palace and concert hall designed to be transformed. The main hall on the ground floor—more than two thousand square meters plus a 300 m² stage—is divided by mobile soundproof panels housed in the monoliths themselves. Upstairs, another floor is fragmented into smaller rooms. The hall groups exhibitions, a cafeteria, a cloakroom, and a ticket office. Outside, a terrace of 4,500 m² admits tents and outdoor stages. The geometry of the roof was refined for acoustic needs, with advice that included the management of the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra. Canary Islands architecture and accessibility awards, and a nomination for the Mies van der Rohe, consolidated the building as a landmark of the southern island.

When the concrete lights up

In August 2018, elrow premiered its Rowllywood on that terrace, with Damian Lazarus, Ilario Alicante, Steve Lawler, or Yousef; in 2019 it returned with Chinese Row Year. They are not the venue: they are brands that occupied the venue. Later, the Tenerife scene has used Magma for Tropicalia, Santos Afters, and raves of house, tech house, and bass. Inside, orchestra, theater, Gipsy Kings, or congresses coexist. Three accesses—south facade, offices, and concert ramp—allow the building to be opened in layers. There is private parking, a VIP room, and an accessible route.

Programming by lineup pulse

Since February 2014, the concession corresponds to Blue Marketing Events, until 2034. The venue remains active: it does not operate as a club with fixed nights, but with variable programming. When there is a party, the door opens to the rhythm of the event; when not, the concrete waits for the next setup. On the map of Canary Islands club culture, Magma is the great container of the south: a landscape of artificial lava that, from time to time, becomes a dance floor.
