Polygon Brooklyn

The reinvention of 299 Vandervoort Avenue under the name Polygon Brooklyn kicked off in October 2018 with an inaugural techno weekend headlined by Marco Bailey and Black Asteroid. The venue already occupied a rare niche in Brooklyn: an industrial warehouse on the border of East Williamsburg and Bushwick where the night didn't end when other clubs closed.

After hours with Funktion-One

Before that brand, the venue operated as Studio 299 and, for many clubbers, simply as 299 Vandervoort. The company Studio 299 LLC obtained a cabaret license in 2015 and the space was used for electronic parties, screenings, and immersive installations. Upon relaunching as Polygon, the club itself described two Funktion-One systems for three DJ zones: the main indoor dance floor—the Polygon room—and two covered terraces for year-round use. With 5,400 square feet, a wrap-around bar, and a kitchen, it was presented as a labyrinth of music, food, and culture rather than a single-room nightclub.

That layout fit the Brooklyn after hours scene. In its first months, those leaving big techno nights would end up here in the early hours and stay well into the morning. As a licensed bar, alcohol service was cut off during the legal early morning hours: a detail that set the pulse of the night as much as the sound system.

A hybrid that no longer lives on techno alone

After the pandemic, the calendar stopped revolving solely around underground electronic music. Polygon now also presents itself as a Latin cuisine and pizza restaurant, with brunch, tables, and a stage that hosts comedy, live rap, or sports broadcasts. The most visible nights are marked by R&B, hip hop, reggae, soca, and afrobeats promoters, often across two floors: indoor dance floor and terrace. Electronic music hasn't gone away entirely: house, tech house, and afro house after hours are still scheduled with doors at 04:00.

Its stable identity is the container, not a resident party. In 2025, the operator Studio 299 LLC continued to use the trade name Polygon Brooklyn. There is no fixed box office schedule: the venue opens according to programming, and night parties usually last until 04:00. It is an intimate or medium-scale club, designed for night rentals rather than continuous in-house programming.

Geometry, terraces, and flexible use

The brand story plays with the polygon and with bringing different people together under one roof and two rooftops. In practice, this is a compact and multi-room venue: dance floor, Polygon room, two outdoor decks, continuous bar, and kitchen. It serves just as well for an early morning Funktion-One session as it does for a birthday, a Caribbean party, or a seated show. That flexibility, rather than a fixed resident night, is what keeps 299 Vandervoort alive.
