Chris Lake's career acts as a bridge between the British club scene, the American electronic explosion, and a modern take on house music geared toward large stages without losing dancefloor tension. Before becoming a regular fixture at festivals and mega-clubs, he began to make a name for himself with productions and unofficial remixes in the early 2000s, including releases under aliases like Christophe D'Abuc. His international breakthrough came with Changes, featuring Laura V, a track that opened his presence on the British and American charts and solidified a recognizable signature: punchy bass, an immediate vocal hook, and a structure designed to work both on the radio and in the DJ booth.

From anthem producer to architect of his own scene

During the second half of the 2000s and the early years of the following decade, Lake strung together releases such as Carry Me Away, Only One, If You Knew, or Sundown, in addition to collaborations and work connected to deadmau5, Steve Aoki, and Skrillex. His participation on deadmau5's album 4x4=12 was part of a period recognized by the industry with a Grammy nomination. After settling in Los Angeles, his sound shifted from electro house and progressive house toward a drier, more robust, and functional language, where tech house took on a central role without erasing his ability to write tracks with massive impact.

Black Book as a declaration of independence

The founding of Black Book Records in 2016 marked a decisive turn. The label allowed him to regain creative control and build a platform for his own music and for a new generation of house producers. From that environment, he released essential pieces of his recent era such as Operator, with Dances With White Girls, Turn Off The Lights, I Want You, A Drug From God, with NPC, and In The Yuma, with Aatig. Black Book has also projected itself as an event brand and a showcase for artists like Cloonee, HoneyLuv, or Mochakk, reinforcing Lake's role as a producer, publisher, curator, and entrepreneur within dance music.

Large formats, side projects, and Chemistry

His live dimension has expanded with high-impact collaborative projects. With FISHER, he developed Under Construction, a b2b format that reached stages like EDC Las Vegas and a takeover of Hollywood Boulevard in 2023. With Chris Lorenzo, he forms Anti Up, a duo oriented toward rave-influenced house with a British character that has also played Coachella. In 2025, he released Chemistry, an album and the axis of a new artistic stage in which he brought together his taste for the club, electronic pop, and contemporary vocal production. That same year, he entered the DJ Mag Top 100 DJs, a reflection of a rare position: that of a veteran producer who has known how to remain relevant in festival culture without abandoning the physical, direct, and obsessively effective language of dancefloor house.
