Origins and Early Years

Born under the real name Dominic Louis Matheson on January 18, 1992, in Manila, Philippines, the artist globally known as Dom Dolla is currently one of the main ambassadors of Australian electronic music. Born to Australian parents, he spent much of his childhood in Darwin, in the inhospitable Northern Territory of Australia, and during his adolescence, his family settled in the vibrant cultural capital of Melbourne. His fascination with electronic music emerged almost by accident during a vacation in Bali, when his mother gave him a copy of the iconic album 'Rooty' (2001) by the renowned British duo Basement Jaxx. This record ignited his unwavering passion for dance rhythms and club culture. Upon finishing his secondary studies, he balanced his interest in music production by playing as a DJ in local venues and clubs on weekends, all while earning a living working as a freelance graphic designer.

Rise to Fame and Early Success

Around 2015, encouraged by the resounding success of his performances and his early home productions, Dom Dolla made the brave decision to leave the world of design behind to dedicate himself to music production full-time. After signing with the independent Australian record label Sweat It Out, he began to stand out in his country's club scene with the track 'Define', created alongside Go Freek, which reached number one on the ARIA Club Chart. This was followed by powerful singles like 'You' and 'Be Randy', the latter earning him his first major nomination at the Australian music industry awards. However, the true turning point on a global level came in 2018 with the release of his iconic single 'Take It'. This Tech House anthem dominated dance floors around the world and accumulated hundreds of millions of streams. This overwhelming success was followed in 2019 by the popular anthem 'San Frandisco', which solidified his reputation and earned him his first ARIA Music Award in the Best Dance Release category.

International Consolidation

During the 2020s, the DJ and producer has elevated his status to that of a true international superstar, refining his characteristic sound that combines powerful basslines, immersive House rhythms, and incredibly memorable vocal hooks. In 2022, he released the hit track 'Miracle Maker' alongside vocalist Clementine Douglas, a hit that swept festivals across the globe. The year 2023 marked another major milestone in his meteoric career with massive releases like 'Rhyme Dust', produced in collaboration with house legend MK, and 'Eat Your Man', an acclaimed song that marked the musical return of global pop superstar Nelly Furtado. His undeniable talent for reinterpreting classic tracks earned him his first nomination at the prestigious Grammy Awards in 2024 thanks to his remix of the track 'New Gold' by the legendary band Gorillaz alongside Tame Impala.

Recently recognized as the first winner of the ARIA Global Impact Award, Dom Dolla's influence knows no borders. Today, backed by the major talent agency Wasserman, he has become an indispensable headliner for the most massive music events and festivals on the planet, including the legendary Coachella, Tomorrowland, Lollapalooza, and EDC Las Vegas. His insatiable work ethic has led him to sell out legendary venues around the world, highlighting iconic shows at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado and Madison Square Garden in New York. Added to this is a historic milestone in 2025 where he completely filled the Allianz Stadium in Sydney in front of tens of thousands of attendees, definitively consolidating Dom Dolla as one of the undisputed leaders of dance music worldwide.
