Jason Bye's pulse is linked to the way Ibiza understands the musical sunset: patient selection, warm basslines, classic house vocals, and the intuition to read a terrace before the night accelerates. Born in London and based in Ibiza, he found in Café Mambo the place that would define a large part of his career. There, he became one of the first resident DJs in 1994 and solidified a relationship that remains associated with the sonic imagery of the Sant Antoni Sunset Strip.

From Mambo to the venues that made the island a legend

His journey is not limited to the Balearic sunset ritual. After that first stage at Café Mambo, Bye went on to hold residencies at Amnesia, Manumission, Cream, Home in Sydney and London, and a long-standing presence at We Love Sundays at Space Ibiza. In Australia, he experienced some of his most memorable moments, such as playing after Carl Cox at the 2000 New Year's Eve party on Bondi Beach in front of some 20,000 people, performing alongside Roger Sanchez and Basement Jaxx under the Sydney Harbour Bridge, and working as a tour DJ for Groove Armada in Australia and New Zealand. His booth passport also includes notable dates at The Haçienda in Manchester, Pacha Buenos Aires, and Pacha São Paulo.

House with a memory of garage and tribal nerve

Before fully embracing house, Bye came from b-boy culture, electro, breakdance, and UK garage, a background that explains the elasticity of his sets. His language moves between house, deep house, jackin' house, garage, and tribal grooves, with a clear preference for physical rhythm over closed labels. That breadth has allowed him to play in both sunset formats and club venues, without losing an identity linked to the craft of a resident: building the night, not just filling a time slot.

Playmore Terrys and the continuity of the craft

As a producer, his catalog includes music released on labels such as Playmore Terrys, Simma Black, Brobot Records, Celestial Recordings, and BEAT Music Fund, in addition to compilations and archival reissues on Bandcamp. Tracks like Love Drum, Subways, Party Rocking, or the Back Catalogue volumes document a more dancefloor-oriented facet, with direct basslines and functional house tools. He is also linked to Playmore Terrys as his own label and production platform.

Currently, Jason Bye maintains his role as a resident DJ linked to Café Mambo and the Ibiza scene, with a presence in the programming of spaces like [UNVRS] and 528 Ibiza.
