Resident booth in the heart of the Raval

At Moog in Barcelona, a historic techno venue in the Raval, Javi Gon has once again held the official residency since 2023. The circle closes two decades after his first time in that same booth: in 2006 he started playing three days a week, opening the nights for the then-resident and programmer Robert X. Today he signs off on techno, electro, and trance sets, often playing all night long, with vinyl as his usual tool alongside a solid command of CD players and Traktor Scratch.

From rave trance to dancefloor rhythm

At 17, he began to build his own style with progressive trance, progressive, and psytrance, playing at raves, farmhouses, and small venues. His contact with techno, electro, and minimal coincided with his arrival at Moog. After those two years of residency, he toured clubs in the city and the metropolitan area: KGB, Privilege, Carpe Diem, Underground, Instinto, Lupara, Insomnia Club in Malgrat de Mar, Club 13, Little Jungle in Mataró, Deluxe in El Masnou, Selmos, 2nd Floor, The Garage Club, Sala Block, La Farra in Llinars, Revel in Castellar del Vallès, or Bar 18, among others.

Collectives that sustain the scene

In 2011 he created LUXON, focused on trance, progressive, techtrance, and goa, both contemporary and remember, and the collective INSOMNI.BCN, with night and morning parties at venues like Row14 and Privilege. In 2015 he joined as a resident of Kreuzberg.bcn at [Club]/Laboratory and Salón Kitty. In 2022 he moved to Entropía as head of the booth and, months later, as a partner. He has collaborated with Polar, Techno BCN, Kimik, Muskaria, Goa Moon Fest, Ciclorama, Kraneal, or Om Code, and with psytrance sessions and free parties in the Catalan circuit.

Club selector, not a catalog DJ

His place in the scene is not that of a commercial discography producer, but that of a dancefloor selector: a bridge between the trance culture of Catalan raves and the club techno that continues to define Moog. He regularly documents his sets at that venue, including warm-ups and recent long nights, and maintains a dense schedule of Saturdays in the main booth, reaffirming an underground commitment built club by club, vinyl by vinyl.
