The mental discipline of a personal label

Leiras has built his identity around a techno of physical pulse and mental reading, a zone where dancefloor pressure, textural detail, and a very conscious relationship with the genre's tradition coexist. His career began in the north of Spain and consolidated from Berlin, a city that serves as his base to project work focused on rhythmic research, groove continuity, and hypnotic tension. Before establishing the project under his real surname, Marcos Leiras had already released music under other aliases; in 2014, he opened a more personal chapter with the birth of Ownlife™, a platform and label from which he articulates a large part of his artistic discourse.

Ownlife™ as archive and laboratory

The Ownlife™ catalog functions as a direct extension of his way of understanding techno: sober, deep, often visceral material, with an architecture designed both for large systems and for concentrated listening. His first releases include titles such as Beginning Of Visions, These Ancestral Bones, A Separate Lineage, Ruins Of Dignity, and Hepta, before arriving at the album A Prison Of Predictions, released in 2017 as a statement of maturity within his own universe. In parallel, the label has served to host collaborations and affinities, including his connection with Svreca on The Bridges I Burn, as well as a line of work aimed at recovering the memory of pioneering producers through the SELD sub-series.

From Cantabrian roots to the international network

His training as a listener and selector is marked by a club culture prior to digital saturation. Spaces such as La Real and El Jardín appear in his story, key to his musical education during the early 2000s, and that relationship with vinyl, patient searching, and music with character is maintained in his sessions. As a DJ, Leiras avoids a linear reading of techno: he connects the purity of the first generations with contemporary productions of an advanced approach, alternating pressure, abstraction, organic nerve, and passages of controlled intensity.

A producer of continuity, not isolated gestures

His subsequent discography maintains that coherence. Turquoise Tundra Pt.I, Turquoise Tundra Pt.II, Identity Melter, Odd Glyphs, and Vael Method extend a line of work recognizable by its austerity, its kinetic repetition patterns, and a raw aesthetic that does not renounce precision. At the same time, his music has circulated through labels and environments linked to international techno, including Fracture, Olympian, Pure Traxx, Falling Apart, and AWRY. In the booth, he has performed at clubs, festivals, and platforms in Europe, Asia, and South America, with documented presence in circuits such as Tresor / Globus, ://about blank, and Griessmuehle, in addition to a set for Boiler Room x BAU Gijón that summarizes his most direct dimension well: hypnotic, functional techno with its own identity.
