Anti-star for a hierarchy-free dancefloor

The most recognizable gesture of Not A Headliner is already in its own name: a way of shifting the focus from the artist's ego to the dancefloor as a common space. Originally from Murcia and based in Madrid, José Garrido Benítez has built an identity closely linked to the Spanish underground techno scene, but with a broad reading of clubbing: rhythm, pressure, groove, industrial tension, and an idea of dance understood as collective communication.

Rhythm, friction, and high-intensity clubbing

His sound moves mainly between raw techno, hypnotic techno, hardgroove, and peak-time tools, with room for funk, melancholic melody, breaks, and a very direct physicality. Instead of seeking grandiloquent epicness, his productions usually work with repetition, dry percussion, treated vocals, tense basslines, and structures designed to sustain energy in the booth. This vision has placed him close to artists, labels, and contexts that prioritize the functional character of techno without renouncing a recognizable personality.

GOC, KAOS, and an expanding discography

Since his first releases, the project has grown around labels such as Global Offensive Corporation, Illegal Alien Records, Moral Standards, OAKS, Gordo Trax, The Rose Island, Falling Ethics, End Of Dayz, and KAOS. His catalog highlights works such as GOC001 alongside BLTRX, Systematic Thinker, Fanatical Service, LBS01, Iron Sugar, Aquafuture, Desobediencia como virtud, Something Hard To Find, and Fake Tricks. The NAH series within KAOS reinforced a more personal stage, with cuts like Nightfall, Raikou, Moderate Tendencies, and The Space Between Us. In 2026 he opened another direction under the alias José with Usufructo Uso + Disfrute, an EP for Rhythm Control Barcelona closer to house, tech house, acid, and British-rooted breaks.

Madrid, Berlin, and the Spanish techno network

In the booth, Not A Headliner has established himself as a long-distance selector within a network that connects Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, northern Spain, and Berlin. His presence at events and venues such as Monegros Desert Festival in a B2B format with P.E.A.R.L., RSO.BERLIN, HÖR Berlin, Mondo, Spook Club, Cadavra, Output Barcelona, and dates alongside artists such as Sven Väth, Freddy K, Nørbak, Temudo, Blasha & Allatt, or The Lady Machine confirms an increasingly solid position. He currently represents a line of Spanish techno that looks outward without losing its local accent: demanding, direct, and constantly mutating club music.
