Amsterdam groove with a memory of Chicago and New York

The warm pulse, elastic bass, and a very physical way of understanding house have placed Prunk at the center of a Dutch generation that looks at the club with respect for tradition and a contemporary vocation. Linked to Amsterdam and musically raised around deep house, he started collecting records before his teens and found a decisive starting point in the influence of figures like Ian Pooley, Mark Farina, Kerri Chandler, Todd Terry, Moodymann, Derrick Carter, Dixon, or DJ Sneak. That booth education is perceived in sets of fluid mixing, sustained groove, and an energy that avoids easy impact to build a journey.

PIV as a community, label, and language

His role expanded decisively in 2015 with the creation of PIV Records, a label and event platform that has ended up identifying with a modern reading of New York and Chicago-rooted house. PIV does not function only as a catalog: it is also a network of artists, parties, and followers that has taken its aesthetic to reference clubs and festivals. Prunk has been a resident of Straf_Werk, a regular at DGTL and Awakenings, and has taken his sound to spaces and cities such as Ibiza, London, Miami, Barcelona, São Paulo, Zurich, Monaco, or Bali. PIV nights and his dates at Cova Santa have reinforced his position as one of the engines of current European house.

From initial funk to a broader house

Before consolidating his current name, he also worked under the alias Prunk Le Funk, a stage that connects with his taste for funkier house and with the title of his album Le Funk, released on PIV in 2023. The album brought together his warmest, soul, and club side with collaborations with Mr. V, Ruze, M-High, Dennis Quin, and Jovonn, and acted as a synthesis of his journey. To that reference are added releases such as Journey, Sexy Brasil EP, Through The Walls EP, Perception Of Groove, Groovebox EP, Heat, Keep It Simple with Rona Ray, and Express EP with RED 87, in addition to works and remixes on labels such as Defected, EWax, Nervous Records, King Street Sounds, Moulton Music, Djebali, Tamango, and Hot Creations.

A label figure with international reach

Prunk maintains a recognizable identity: house with a luminous groove, precise percussion, round basslines, and a balance between depth, funk, and dancefloor functionality. His importance comes not only from his productions or his extended sets, but from having articulated around PIV a sound, a community, and a way of presenting house that continues to expand its radius of action in international clubs, festivals, and showcases.
