Apollonia

One record each, until closing

In the most demanding underground house booths, Apollonia functions as a single organism: three selections that chain together without a score, with the ironclad rule of one record each and sets that last five hours or more. Dan Ghenacia, Dyed Soundorom, and Shonky turned that back-to-back-to-back rotation into their hallmark, a format born from friendship and Parisian after-parties that today sustains marathons at DC-10, fabric, or Panorama Bar.

From Batofar to the White Island

The trio was forged in late nineties Paris, at the Kwality after-parties on the Batofar boat, where Ghenacia was already mixing US West Coast house with techno, disco, and funk. Soundorom and Shonky joined that school of deep groove, far from the mainstream French touch. Ghenacia's Freak n' Chic label released early works by both and names like Jamie Jones. In 2012, after the closure of that label, they formalized the project and the Apollonia label—the name evokes the Apollonia from Purple Rain—and presented themselves as a unit at the Amsterdam Dance Event.

Ghenacia was a resident at Circoloco in DC-10 since the early 2000s; Soundorom and Shonky joined later. The All Night Long showcase in Ibiza became an Annual event. In 2014 they mixed the terrace compilation for ENTER., by Richie Hawtin, opened the Amnesia terrace, and covered Mixmag, in addition to recording the 100% Vinyl series at the Syncrophone shop in Paris.

Tour à Tour and the Apollonia house

In 2013 came fabric 70, the mix for the London club, with their own tracks like Trinidad. The debut album Tour à Tour was recorded during a Berlin lockdown and released in October 2014: an album conceived as a warm-up, peak, and after-party, with tracks like The Benshee, El Señor Vador, June, or Mouche Tsé Tsé. The label's catalog has included reissues and like-minded artists, while each continues to release solo material.

In 2017 they added Music On at Amnesia. In 2019 they debuted their own residency Planet Claire at Octan: ten Sundays with guests like Doc Martin, Traumer, Nicolas Lutz, or Pearson Sound. Resident Advisor placed them in the top 20 of their annual DJ poll two years in a row.

The groove that never fades

The sound remains faithful to a hypnotic, deep, and funk house, with flashes of tech house and minimal techno, always at the service of the long dance floor. Winters in the Berlin studio, summers in Ibiza: that geography continues to mark the calendar. In 2025 they returned to take over Nitsa, in Barcelona, for the whole night, and maintain an international schedule of all night longs. More than a decade after formalizing the trio, Apollonia remains one of the most recognizable booth units in the European house scene.
