Biography of Elixir Kitchen and Bar
The dancefloor is outside
On Washington Street, the night doesn't fit in a basement. Elixir Kitchen and Bar puts the dancefloor on the terrace, a patio that is a dining room by day and, as soon as night falls, the place where downtown Orlando hears house music up close. The Sunset Sessions series was already running in 2022, when DJ Guz opened on a Sunday during Miami Music Week, and in 2026 it remains a staple of the venue itself: doors at 21:00, 21+ access, and closing time aligned with the venue's 02:00. The lineup for that year includes Ragie Ban, X CLUB., Locklead—a collaborator of Chris Stussy—and debuts such as L.P. Rhythm (Hot Creations, Defected). The headliner is seen from just meters away, not behind a festival stage.
Detroit, at a downtown bar
That terrace had already shown other ambitions. In 2019, the lineup went beyond the usual for a downtown bar: on March 9th, Kevin Saunderson played; in April, Wax Motif and a set by Matthew Dear arrived; on May 11th, Carl Craig closed the streak at a party by the promoter Protocol, announced as a pre-party for Detroit's Movement. In October, the Sundae Service series brought the British artist Denney on a Sunday. It didn't stop at one season. In 2023, the outdoor patio was still full with house music from Kyle Watson and Justin Martin (Dirtybird). In May 2026, the lineup announced for the venue included Skream and Technasia.
Old pine, 2012 name
the venue was not born as a club. It occupies the Dolive building, erected around 1918 at 9 West Washington Street, the same corner previously occupied by the Irish pub Scruffy Murphy's. In September 2012, it opened as Elixir Bar Room and Hash House. The renovation repurposed the property: the bar was built with century-old heart pine that was already inside, the baseboards came from old pallets, and the exposed brick was the original structure. That small box explains the type of night that fits here: DJ booth close to the audience, terrace as a large dancefloor, and a building that downtown didn't manage to demolish.
From noon to dawn
By day, it functions as a gastropub. Made-to-order food, Sunday brunch from 12:00 to 16:00, back dining room for groups, and bottle service. It is open every day: weekdays from 11:30 and weekends from 12:00, always until 02:00. There is no dress code. By day, downtown office workers come in; by night, the same address remains on the Orlando electronic circuit, with its own series like Sunset Sessions and South x Central, and with after-parties during the EDC weekend.
