A Washington Avenue theater with a festival roof

The Main Room of M2 Miami occupies the former stalls: a booth on a full-sized stage, a double-height dance floor, and, over the people, The Spider, an eight-legged LED piece that the club uses as a visual signature. The venue, about 35,000 square feet in the Art Déco district of South Beach, functions at night as a megaclub and by day as an event space.

From the French Casino to the 2023 reopening

The building was born in the thirties as a casino-theater. Thomas Hunter Henderson designed the French Casino in 1935 and Thomas Lamb redesigned the interior in 1937 as the Cinema Casino Theatre, with a staircase lobby and details that the venue still claims. After the cinema closed in 1977, the space was converted into nightlife: Club Z opened in 1984; later came Club 1235, Paragon, Prince's Glam Slam, and Mansion (2004-2015), the Opium Group's club. Icon and Copa Room later occupied the site. M2 reopened on March 22, 2023, after a $15 million renovation promoted by Joey Morrissey and Jason Lin, at 1235 Washington Avenue.

Several rooms and large-format pulse

The club is organized as a multi-room venue: main dance floor, VIP mezzanine, Chamber Room, Prince Room —the elevated space that Prince used in the Glam Slam era— and a two-story lobby with configurable LEDs. There are six skyboxes, a VIP room with its own entrance, two DJ booths, and four bars. The programming mixes house, techno, and large-capacity parties. RESISTANCE, Ultra's US residency, has occupied seasonal Saturdays with Carl Cox, Charlotte de Witte, ARTBAT, Eli Brown, or Sasha and John Digweed. BRESH and other Latin nights cover the rest of the weekend. The opening week was opened by MORTEN, with an appearance by David Guetta.

Closing at five in South Beach

M2 remains active, with 21+ access and habitual closing at 5:00 AM. It opens mostly on Fridays and Saturdays, plus industry Mondays, Miami Music Week, and occasional dates. The door asks to dress to impress and rejects beach or gym wear. It is not an underground basement: it is a converted theater that brings the volume and light of a festival stage to the avenue, within the club culture of Miami Beach.
