Wooden floor and a custom Audioflat

The whole room pushes toward a narrow dancefloor, with the booth at the back, a red curtain, and an Audioflat made in Portugal. In Príncipe Real, 5A Club plays the night on a minimal scale: a dark venue, with a wooden floor and low light, designed for those who come to dance and not to show off. The system, custom-made in the country, seeks deep bass and precise sound in a small space; the walls have acoustic treatment and the atmosphere is tinged with red. There is no large-format venue: the night fits into a dancefloor, a bar, and the basement.

The 5A door since 2018

The venue opened in May 2018 on Rua do Noronha. The first weekends combined cocktails, alternative electronic music from the promoter Match Attack, and a closing around four in the morning. Zé Salvador remained as resident and programmer almost from the start. Over the years, the venue refined its identity: house and techno nights, from hypnotic bases to more physical rhythms, always with long sessions and a dancefloor that asks for concentration. Today it publishes recordings of those dawns—André Cascais, Aöcram, Cruz, and other names from the local scene—and maintains free entry until 1:00. Friday and Saturday the session starts at midnight and usually lasts until 06:00.

Chill Bar, downstairs lounge, and dancefloor rules

At birth, 5A was mostly a high bar and dancefloor. Later, the Chill Bar next to the dancefloor and a lounge on the lower floor were consolidated, away from the volume, designed to recover the body without leaving the venue. The booth often works with vinyl. The house guide asks not to use the phone on the dancefloor, discreet photos, and respect for the neighborhood when smoking outside; there is a cloakroom. The club remains open, with regular weekend programming, as one of the most consistent small venues in the underground clubbing scene of Lisbon.
