A painted alley before the dancefloor

A mural-covered alley in Egia marks the entrance to Dabadaba, a venue that has turned its small scale into a virtue: a 250 m² open-plan room, a 300-person capacity, an elongated terrace, and an unusual physical proximity between the DJ booth, stage, and audience. Since 2014, it has operated as one of the cultural hinges of San Sebastián, mixing concerts, club nights, DJ sets, screenings, flea markets, and presentations without rigidly separating live music from the dancefloor.

Programming without a single track

The musical identity of the space is based on risk and variety. Its own activity exceeds 300 artists programmed per year and moves naturally from techno to flamenco, from indie to rock and roll, from hip hop to jazz, and from low-frequency electronics to pop, psychedelic, or global sounds. Its official history includes names as diverse as Rosalía, C. Tangana, Peggy Gou, Andrew Weatherall, Hunee, Helena Hauff, Kiasmos, Ben UFO, Avalon Emerson, or Octo Octa, a sign of programming that has connected the local scene with international circuits without losing its human scale.

Small format, serious gear

The venue does not operate as a mass-market club, but as a compact meeting point where the design of the space conditions the experience. The technical rider confirms a TW AUDiO FOH system with B18 subwoofers, quadraphonic expansion for the club, Powersoft amplification, and a Midas M32 console, plus a booth with CDJs, Pioneer mixers, Allen & Heath Xone:96, and Technics turntables. The 5.40 x 4.40 m stage, projection screen, and backstage allow for alternating concerts, electronics, and hybrid formats without turning the place into a neutral room.

A rare house in Egia

Dabadaba has grown as a friendly home for an inquisitive audience, emerging artists, and promoters who need a flexible space. Its terrace acts as an outdoor respite, the box office integrates a cloakroom, and the access policy is based on respect, inclusivity, and zero tolerance for sexist, homophobic, racist, classist, or violent attitudes. Club nights usually occupy Fridays, Saturdays, and special dates, while concerts are scheduled variably. That combination of neighborhood, dancefloor, and curation explains why the venue remains a unique piece within the Donostia club culture.
