Sala Maverick

At the Artzubia roundabout, next to the Garmendipe field, a warehouse at the entrance of Azpeitia has sustained the club scene of the Urola valley when the rest of the town's venues were already a memory. Today it is called Sala Maverick. Yesterday it was called Inox. It is the same physical venue.

The relay that closed the valley map

Azpeitia did not arrive at this nightclub all at once. Many ended up earlier at Gautxori, a basement on Pablo VI street, and later at the Ezkerretegi or Xoxote farmhouse, on the slopes of Izarraitz, where electronic music was already playing. The next step was Inox, in Garmendipe: at the entrance of the municipality, next to the sports center and the industrial estate, with a small parking lot and a floor designed for a dance floor. Its inauguration was set for the end of 2008. On New Year's Eve of that year, the venue was operating at full capacity: access hall, rectangular room with side columns, bar at the back, elevated DJ booth and bathrooms on the upper floor.

Inox: trance, remember and techno

The first years they programmed it as a trance and remember club, with the PG2 label and headliners like Ron Hagen (Signum). It was not a coastal mega-venue, but it was a valley nightclub with late-night hours and an audience that mixed fans of the style with those leaving the town's bars. A decade later the same venue, already cited as Inox Club, documented harder nights: in October 2019 Iker Uriarte, Trampas, opened with electro and breaks towards techno; in January 2020 Javier Ganuza played club techno in that same booth. Alexander Loop, a DJ from Azpeitia, came to manage Disco Inox. Maverick is now presented as the rebirth of that Inox.

Maverick and Phase 4, the current skin

In January 2024, Maverick & Phase 4 SL was born, a company to operate nightclubs and organize events. The venue is advertised at Garmendipe Kalea 8 and operates under the Maverick brand, with the header Maverick & Phase 4. Its own communication speaks of electronic, reggaeton parties and live performances, and cites residents such as Davila —a name that coincides with one of the company's administrators—, Ephy and Javi Hidalgo. The local press treats it as Sala and Discoteca Maverick. On October 25, 2025, a night with DJs and a stage —dance floor, photos and closing at 06:30— confirmed that the venue remains open according to programming, not as a fixed calendar club. The useful history is here: a Garmendipe warehouse that learned to be a club with Urola trance, went through techno and today is called Maverick.
