A Gatsby-esque venue with an LED dome at Princesa 1

The literary nickname is no mere decoration: FITZ Madrid takes its name from F. Scott Fitzgerald and the glamour of the Roaring 20s, but translates it into a two-story venue right next to Plaza de España. At number 1 Calle de la Princesa, Grupo Sounds reopened the site of the former Sala Arena in April 2023, which had closed in 2017 after nearly two decades as a benchmark for concerts and clubbing in the center of Madrid.

The premiere sounded like top-tier tech-house

The statement of intent was clear in the booth: Marco Carola and Loco Dice inaugurated the venue with a four-hour b2b set. Since then, the motto The House of Artists summarizes a hybrid programming, halfway between an electronic club and a show venue: Fatboy Slim, James Hype, Hugel, or Agents of Time coexist with showcases by Ozuna, J Balvin, Quevedo, or Travis Scott. Open format music and concerts share the space with DJ nights and private events.

A dance floor crowned by LED rings

The most distinctive feature of the physical space is not a balcony or a terrace: it is the spherical digital dome of concentric LED rings that Instronic and Dpoch Studio installed over the dance floor. The geometry—trapezoidal flexible PCBs with variable pixel pitch—wraps around the dance floor and is replicated on an intimate scale in the VIP area on the upper floor. Fluge Audiovisuales integrated more than 50 Prolights moving heads, Martin Atomic 3000 LED strobes, and four Kvant Clubmax 68 FB4 lasers, with grandMA3 control. On the facade and in the reception, digital signage announces the programming.

L-Acoustics under the stage

The main system distributes twelve K3 units in four line arrays and six KS28 subwoofers under the stage, with X12 units at the entrance and in the VIP area. LA4X and LA12X amplifiers, NST Audio and Meyer Sound processing, and a DiGiCo SD11 console. The published capacity for events is 800 standing or 300 seated: a compact city-center club, designed to make an impact more through visuals and sound pressure than through the size of the venue.

Home to artists and brands

Beyond the nightlife, the venue functions as a versatile space for presentations—Mercedes-Benz, L’Oréal, Disney+, Lindt, Bershka, or RTVE have used the club—and maintains VIP tables on both floors. The restaurant-club Dos Passos, located nearby on the same street, completes the Grupo Sounds ecosystem alongside Vandido and Bonded. On the map of Madrid clubbing, FITZ does not replace Arena: it writes another layer, more immersive, over the same intersection of Princesa and Plaza de España.
