Steel, river, and rave scale

Amidst cranes, docks, and naval history, a large warehouse at Thames Wharf is set to operate as one of the largest-scale electronic music venues in London. Ironworks takes its name from the former Thames Ironworks environment, the industrial and shipbuilding complex associated with the Royal Docks riverfront. The intervention does not start from a neutral black box, but from existing architecture: metal structure, high roof, large interior spans, and a direct relationship with the Thames. That physical condition is essential to understanding the project: the venue is designed as a warehouse experience, not as a conventional nightclub embellished later.

LWE returns to the warehouse language

Programming and production are driven by LWE together with PROJEKT, two players linked to the cultural recovery of unconventional spaces in London. In the local scene's narrative, Ironworks connects with the tradition of large industrial venues like Printworks, Tobacco Dock, or Great Suffolk Street, but shifts that logic to a riverside location in the east of the city. The project announces a capacity of 7,000 people, a 78,000-square-foot interior warehouse, and an 80,000-square-foot outdoor terrace with skyline views, placing the venue on a scale closer to an urban festival than a basement club.

A first season with headline names

Public opening is scheduled for October 2026, with an initial season concentrated between October 3 and November 1. The first programming preview places Jamie Jones, Eric Prydz, CAMELPHAT, Appetite, and Charlotte de Witte at the center of the inaugural narrative, along with a special live act yet to be announced. That selection allows for reading the space's musical profile: large formats of house, techno, melodic sounds, and high-visual-impact productions, with day-to-night events and an artistic takeover focus rather than an isolated session.

Warehouse culture with contemporary infrastructure

Ironworks is conceived as a large-format temporary venue, but with services typical of a complex urban event: main stage in the warehouse, a second warehouse with a bar and seating areas, outdoor bars, food stalls, lockers, medical point, and welfare team. It also incorporates accessibility measures such as a viewing platform, accessible toilets, assistance via form, and Blue Badge parking upon request. The presence of the Museum of Youth Culture with an installation on London warehouse culture reinforces a reading that goes beyond the lineup: the space aims to insert the memory of warehouse raves into a contemporary, massive, and controlled infrastructure, at a time when London continues to seek new places to dance on a large scale.
