Industrial scale as identity

The magnitude of the building marks the experience before the first kick drum sounds. Drumsheds occupies the former IKEA store in Tottenham, within the Meridian Water area, and transforms it into an electronic culture venue with dimensions unusual in the British night: 608,000 square feet, more than 56,000 m², and a total capacity of up to 15,000 people. The current headquarters opened in 2023 under the impulse of Broadwick, the team associated with spaces like Printworks, The Beams, or Depot Mayfield. It is worth distinguishing it from the previous Drumsheds, also linked to Broadwick and located in another nearby enclave, which operated until 2022; the current project is the macro-venue installed in the old IKEA on Glover Drive.

X, Y, and Z: a dancefloor factory

The architecture is organized as a flexible system of rooms and routes. Room X functions as the heart of the venue: high ceilings, exposed beams, warehouse scale, and audiovisual production designed for large masses. Room Y offers a more compressed energy, with less height and a configuration designed to intensify the closeness between the public, the DJ booth, and visuals. Room Z reduces the scale and adds a very recognizable feature: a caged DJ booth that brings the DJ closer to the center of the dancefloor's pressure. Between these zones, The Stores acts as a hub for circulation, bars, and services, while The Yard provides exterior relief, street food, and meeting points during long-duration events.

Sound, light, and large-format programming

Drumsheds does not operate as a traditional weekly club, but as a seasonal venue with high-impact dates. Its programming combines techno, house, drum and bass, trance, garage, bass music, alternative pop, and stadium electronic music, articulated through promoters, labels, and club brands. Cycles and nights of Defected, Drumcode, RESISTANCE, Bugged Out!, Tresor, DJ-Kicks, A State Of Trance, and The Hydra have passed through its rooms or been announced, along with artists like Adam Beyer, Amelie Lens, Marcel Dettmann, I Hate Models, Peggy Gou, Jungle, Leftfield, Charlotte de Witte, Jamie Jones, Orbital, Hot Chip, or Basement Jaxx. The improvement of the d&b audiotechnik system, with reinforcement of bass and sub-bass and acoustic treatment in Room X, responds to the technical difficulty of making club music sound clearly in a ship of this scale.

A key piece of post-Printworks London

Its importance within London's club culture is linked to the void left by Printworks and the search for spaces capable of sustaining massive productions without losing the pulse of the dancefloor. Drumsheds bets on access from Meridian Water, wide internal circulation, cashless payments, lockers, free water points, medical attention, and welfare zones. After a license review in 2025, the venue continued to operate at full capacity with modified conditions, reinforcing its dimension as an active, demanding space subject to security management in accordance with its size. More than a conventional nightclub, it functions as an infrastructure temporarily programmed for large-format electronic music in North London.
