The threshold of the Escadinhas da Praia

Going down the Escadinhas da Praia was, for almost four decades, entering the Kremlin. Today that same opening in Santos, next to Avenida 24 de Julho, gives way to Santuário: a dance floor temple built over an old convent whose stone arches were kept as a skeleton, while the rest of the house was completely redesigned. Filipe Martins, known in the booth as Dub Tiger, and businessman Fernando Rodrigues—at the head of the venue since 2016—do not present a continuation of the red cycle, but a break in identity: less Soviet iconography, more contemporary ritual of electronic music, art, and dining.

RAF in the room and the Eden as a refuge

The main room is no longer thought of just as a dance floor. Sound and image merge under the visual narrative of the artist RAF, conceived as a living installation that accompanies the night. To one side, the Eden operates as a reserved area for contemplation: sofas, rugs, and a private lounge scale. The venue is completed by gastronomy and performance areas that change function according to the time, from after-work or the tasting menu to the stage. The decoration—stone, sculptures, vegetation—seeks an organic atmosphere, more tactile than technological, inspired by clubs in Miami and Mykonos that Martins frequented as an artist.

House, tech house, and afro house

The heart of the programming is the dance floor: house, tech house, and afro house, read as the new popular dance music. The planned inauguration brought together Miguel Rendeiro, Tiago Cruz, and Dub Tiger himself; the first month also pointed to Maddox, Nuak, Daveed, MDUSA, Gonçalo, Revimo Art, Pako Ramirez, Raedam, and Dexx. Santuário is also offered as a stage, restaurant, and laboratory for private dinners or activations, while remaining a weekend club on the nightlife map of Lisboa.

Neighborhood silence and the new cycle

The Kremlin closed on September 12, 2025, by order of the Lisbon Judicial Court, after years of noise complaints. The acoustic insulation works—anti-vibration supports in the boxes and treatment of partition areas, including the bathrooms—were the condition to reopen. The debut as Santuário, announced for December 18, 2025, was postponed because those works were not ready. The house already maintains its public identity, with hours on Fridays, Saturdays, and holiday eves from 23:00 to 06:00, and is presented as a cultural destination in Santos rather than just a late-night nightclub.
