The Hangar à Bananes ceased to be a conventional nightclub the night the LC Club turned off the lights: in September 2017, on the same pier of the Île de Nantes, the Warehouse was born. They didn't want to call it a nightclub, but a performance hall that continues until dawn. The hangar, rebuilt in 1949 after the 1943 bombings and rehabilitated in 2006-2007, had stored bananas and sugar before becoming a dancefloor. Quentin Schneider, Simon Boisson, Philippe Bernard, and Emmanuel Boulanger took over from Philippe Clément and shifted the center of gravity toward music.

A pier that became a laboratory

From the first winter there were concerts during the week—Damso was one of the first big dates—and nights of techno, house, and trance, with Thursdays for the Campus, heir to the student Tonus. The venue functions as a hybrid of concert and club: rap and urban music in Xplicit, hardstyle and frenchcore in Rave in Da Club, techno in Under., and a lineup that goes from Laurent Garnier, Charlotte de Witte, and Amelie Lens to Jeff Mills, Fatboy Slim, or I Hate Models. In 2024, some 300,000 people crossed the door.

Room 2, 360 scene, and Nantes talent pool

The Room 2, more intimate, is the laboratory: Funktion-One, CDJ and Technics, LED screen, and regional collectives. Since 2022, Nantes Rave Techno—the club's own concept—places a 360° stage, boiler room style, where Trym, Sara Landry, or Nico Moreno have shared the night with local DJs. HARDCAGE takes that logic to the extreme: a caged booth in the center of the dancefloor, with the audience around the set.

The Top 100 and the Club Culture plaque

Since its breakthrough in the DJ Mag Top 100 Clubs, the venue has not stopped climbing: 55th worldwide in 2025 and 53rd in 2026, with the 2nd French place consolidated since 2022. On June 4, 2025, the French Ministry of Culture granted it the Club Culture label; the plaque was placed on September 10. The club claims to be a cultural actor of the Loire, not just a weekend machine.

Warehouse 2.0, more pressure on the dancefloor

On May 22, 2026, with Amelie Lens—who had already filled the room in 2018 and 2022—the biggest technical reform since the opening was premiered: dancefloor acoustics, L-Acoustics returns for DJs, more than 300 new light elements, screens, lasers, and video capture, with support from the Centre National de la Musique. The main room remains marked by the Italian-French MDC system and the large LEDs; the whole is thought of both for high-pressure clubbing and for increasingly complex concert stages.
