From the bedroom to the global front line

Raised in Stockholm, he began producing in his teens and was shaped in the ecosystem of electronic music forums and communities, including the circle of Laidback Luke. Before Avicii became a global phenomenon, he released music and gained traction under aliases like Tim Berg and Tom Hangs. The "Seek Bromance" era paved the way, but the definitive leap came in 2011 with "Levels," a piece built on an ascending melody and a vocal sample from Etta James that condensed the optimism of early-decade electronica.

When EDM opened up to folk and pop

With True in 2013, Avicii challenged the expectations of the dance circuit by presenting "Wake Me Up" with Aloe Blacc, crossing house, bluegrass, soul, and pop with a naturalness that expanded the audience for electronic music. The album also consolidated tracks like "Hey Brother" and turned his way of working into a model for the scene: melodic drops, song structures, and production designed for both radio and large stages. The remix album True: Avicii By Avicii and his work with artists like Coldplay reinforced his profile as a producer capable of moving between the club and global pop.

A legacy that keeps breathing

Stories in 2015 showed broader ambition, with tracks like "Waiting For Love," "For a Better Day," "Pure Grinding," and "Broken Arrows." In 2016, he retired from touring to take care of his health and recover a more sustainable relationship with music, although he continued working in the studio and in 2017 released AVĪCI (01), featuring "Without You" and "Lonely Together." His passing in Muscat in April 2018, at the age of 28, transformed his figure into a symbol of precocious talent and a necessary conversation about pressure, mental health, and the live industry. The posthumous album TIM in 2019, the Tim Bergling Foundation, the documentary Avicii: I'm Tim, the concert film Avicii: My Last Show, and the compilation Avicii Forever in 2025 have kept his archive alive.
