Origins

Oliver Rowley, known globally by his artistic alias Azyr, stars in one of the most meteoric and unique rise stories in recent electronic music. Born in the year 2000 and raised in the coastal town of Fleetwood, near Blackpool, in the northwest of England, his path to international DJ booths did not follow the conventional route.

Originally, Rowley was building a technical career as an aeronautical engineering apprentice at the prestigious firm Rolls-Royce in Sheffield. However, the arrival of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 marked an irreversible turning point. Confined and under the furlough scheme, he decided to invest his salary in a basic DJ controller to combat boredom.

What began as practice sessions in his bedroom, inspired by the irreverence of artists like PartiBoi69, transformed into iron discipline. As the world reopened, and faced with the lack of an established local scene, Azyr demonstrated his entrepreneurial spirit by founding his own event brand, «Visionary», in a small venue in Blackpool. The immediate success of these self-managed parties caught the attention of the influential Manchester collective Teletech, becoming the springboard that would catapult him from anonymity to global fame.

Style

Azyr has established himself as the undisputed flag-bearer of a new wave of Hard Techno that prioritizes pure energy and dizzying speed. His sonic proposal is characterized by operating almost exclusively above 150 BPM, creating an atmosphere of controlled chaos.

Far from being pigeonholed, his sets are an explosive amalgam that fuses the mechanical rawness of Industrial and the rhythmic aggression of Schranz with the corrosive textures of Acid Techno and the melodic euphoria of Psytrance. This «Full Throttle» aesthetic rejects minimalism in favor of a visceral and immediate impact, designed to push the physical endurance of the dance floor to the limit.

Productions like his hit «The Bassline Gives Her Ecstacy» encapsulate this philosophy: relentless rhythms, distorted vocals, and power designed for the largest sound systems on the circuit.

Legacy

Azyr's impact on the global scene has been seismic. In record time, he has gone from being an emerging talent to an indispensable headliner, validating the hard sound of northern England at festivals of the stature of Tomorrowland, Awakenings, and Glastonbury.

His performance at Boiler Room x Teletech in 2023 became a viral phenomenon, accumulating millions of views and defining the rave aesthetic of Generation Z both visually and sonically. Awarded as «Breakthrough DJ» at the Best of British awards by DJ Mag, Azyr has not only conquered stages but is building a platform for the future through his record label, «Speed Limit».

With this project, he seeks to eliminate industry barriers for new artists, ensuring that the raw, unfiltered energy that led him to success continues to flow to new generations.
