The memory of the Festival of Essaouira —nine consecutive summers in childhood, with his family— still beats in the sets of Benchek. A producer and DJ raised amidst the African vibrations of Casablanca, he builds a recognizable crossroads between classic melodic house and the groove of Afro Tech: ethereal pads, piano, and percussion that seek both daydreaming and dancefloor movement. Today he works from Marbella, and that Mediterranean shift does not dilute his Moroccan roots: it turns them into a club language.

A second place that opened up London

In 2016 he placed second in the Defected x Point Blank competition. The prize led him to DJ at the DStore pop-up in Boxpark and in the Baby Box at Ministry of Sound in London, at an event linked to Roger Sanchez, Dario D'Attis, and Sam Divine. Before and after that leap, his booth toured Paris —Le Pigallion, Barapapa, Panic Room, Lab Festival, Candy Shop—, the The Djoon Experience festival in Favignana, and the closing of Ibiza Sea Party. He founded the beVIBES movement and his remixes received support from figures like Manoo.

Alma, Scorpios, and the discographic arc

His recent discography traces a clear arc. In 2022 he participated in Wait for Me with Ankhoï and Bensy for Acouphene Records and signed the original track Time Lapse on the same EP. In July 2023 came Your Everything, a duo with the Malaga-based Moshem on the Connected label, coinciding with the Back to Mine for DMC World Magazine, where he broke down Gnawa, downtempo, and house influences. Vuthelani, with THEMBA and Bukeka on Armada Music (2024), and Nothing Left alongside AVÖ on Unreleased Records, consolidated his voice in Afro House. In February 2025, Scorpios Music released Alma, a piano and pad single that the artist himself says seeks an oneiric escape from the very first note; the track positions him as an artist on the label linked to the Mykonos venue. Heaven, with Syon on RADIANT., followed that luminous line. In 2026 he reappeared with Moshem on Selva (Deep In Your Soul) and with Nadrums on Camino Del Fuego (Deep Root Tribe). He also signed Mationaga alongside Louis Bongo and Sofiya Nzau.

The relationship with Scorpios is not just catalog-based: he has DJed in Mykonos on bills with MoBlack and Drush, in a scene of organic Afro House and precise percussion. Management and booking run through MORE Group, his current managing partner. Between his Casablanca childhood, his Parisian years, and his base on the Costa del Sol, Benchek maintains a warm and transcontinental booth sound: Gnawa roots, melodic house, and releases that travel from Armada to Scorpios.
