Percussion with a global accent

Vanco's sessions are recognized by a very physical tension between deep percussion, long-travel basslines, warm vocals, and an African pulse that avoids decorative folklore to function as a dancefloor engine. Raised in Douglasdale, Johannesburg, and established within the South African house scene, he has built an identity that crosses Afro House, Afro Tech, melodic house, and, in his most recent stages, elements of 3-Step. His discourse does not rely solely on festival impact: he also seeks melody, space, and an emotional charge capable of connecting European clubs, Middle Eastern booths, and African stages.

From technical architecture to the international circuit

Before fully committing to music, Kudzai Blessing Mawoyo studied quantity surveying and construction cost management at the University of the Witwatersrand and worked in real estate development. That phase coexisted with a musical activity that had begun in parallel: in 2015 he released Regeneration, a first turning point that paved his way in the Afro House circuit. From there came pieces like Lutho, Yana Pula, Replika, Tshelede, Alive, La’Ville, Breathe, Motherland, Kitchen, Hoya, and Wele Wele, as well as remixes and collaborations that expanded his reach.

Labels, collaborations, and a network of booths

His catalog is linked to labels and platforms such as ALGRA, Sony Music, Universal Music Group, Get Physical, Connected, Foliage, Afrocentric, Sondela, Defected, and Sudam. Along the way, he has worked or shared credits with Black Motion, DJEFF, Manoo, Boddhi Satva, MÖRDA, Xelimpilo, JAMILA, Eva Simons, Tunde International, Pablo Fierro, Una Rams, Brenden Praise, Cee ElAssaad, Lizwi, and DJ Lag. He has also remixed material by Black Eyed Peas and Daddy Yankee, and his music has received support from figures such as Black Coffee, Themba, Pete Tong, &ME, and Louie Vega.

Ma Tnsani and a new scale

After years of constant circulation through South Africa, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, his most visible leap came with Ma Tnsani (Yalla Habibi) alongside AYA, a union of Afro-electronic energy and Arabic vocal color that became one of his definitive references. The track boosted a stage of greater international projection, reinforced by sets in Ibiza, London, Amsterdam, Dubai, Bali, Santorini, and other key points on his calendar. Live, he has performed at spaces and platforms such as Mixmag Lab Johannesburg, Defected, Ibiza Sonica, Ibiza Global Radio, Blue Marlin Ibiza, Club Chinois, Savaya Bali, Ultra South Africa, and events alongside artists such as Black Coffee, Bob Sinclar, Da Capo, Themba, Shimza, and Pablo Fierro. In his current phase, Vanco maintains an ascending position within global African house: a producer for the wide dancefloor, but with a recognizable and increasingly international rhythmic signature.
