High-speed euphoria from the Dutch north

Benwal's sound moves between trance, rave, hard house, and fast-paced techno, with a melodic energy that connects the imagery of the nineties with the pulse of current club culture. Musically raised in the nightlife of Groninga, he has turned that peripheral starting point into a recognizable identity: intense sessions, agile selection, and a penchant for crossing styles without losing dance-floor tension.

From Zeven to European booths

Before establishing himself as a household name on the international circuit, he was formed in the underground ecosystem of Groninga, where his rave platform Zeven and his link to parties like KopjeK gave him space to test a direct, euphoric, and very physical vision of club sound. That stage was key to shaping a way of DJing based on rapid energy changes, trance references, hard grooves, and a very close reading of the dance floor.

His growth accelerated after 2022, the year he began releasing and performing visibly under the alias Benwal. Since then, he has passed through clubs and festivals in the Netherlands and Europe, with appearances in spaces like RADION, Thuishaven, DGTL, Awakenings, Lowlands, Sónar, Glitch Festival, and Boiler Room, as well as other stages where his sound fits the new high-tempo rave and trance wave. He has also taken his proposal outside of Europe, with a presence in Australia and an increasingly international agenda.

Shared studio and impactful records

His facet as a producer is supported by many hours in the studio alongside Jonathan Kruizenga, a key collaborator in the development of the Benwal sound. After his first cuts like Just Go and Aydee, his catalog has expanded with releases such as Rush (I don't wanna wait), Dive, U Need EP, Check EP alongside Milion, Bendi with Freddi, and Feel Better. His tracks and remixes have appeared on labels and platforms such as Speedmaster Records, Club Heart Broken, Columbia, Planet Strangelove, Method 808, ec2a, Rinse, Armada Music, A State of Trance, and Positiva, reinforcing a position that is no longer limited to the local scene.

A new figure for trance rave

Recognition by SLAM! as a great emerging Dutch talent of 2025 confirmed his generational leap within the Netherlands' electronic scene. Benwal represents a contemporary reading of emotional rave: expansive melodies, high-pressure bass, nods to hard house, and a concrete ability to turn long sets, unexpected B2Bs, or festival performances into moments of high intensity. His present places him as one of the most visible figures of the European trance and hard house renewal.
