The house that leaked between reruns

In 2016, a hazy track titled U slipped onto SoundCloud and ended up crystallizing lo-fi house: wounded pianos, tape saturation, and a heartbreak that didn't quite fit the joke alias. DJ Seinfeld, raised in Malmö, had started producing in Edinburgh during university and, after returning to Sweden and settling in Barcelona, turned a breakup and marathons of the sitcom Seinfeld into a club language. The project was born as an outlet—he was already releasing more sober house as Rimbaudian—and it got out of hand when Lobster Theremin and Meda Fury chased the anonymous producer who was uploading tracks without claiming authorship.

From Season 1 to the DJ-Kicks series

The EP Season 1 (2016, Lobster Theremin) and the album Time Spent Away from U (2017, Lobster Fury) placed him alongside Ross from Friends and Mall Grab, although his music was more melancholic than ironic. Pitchfork and Rolling Stone praised the record; Flume, Flying Lotus, and Bonobo supported him from the scene. In 2018, he signed a DJ-Kicks volume for !K7—the same series as Moodymann, DJ Koze, or Nina Kraviz—and Aphex Twin started playing Sakura at his shows. That year he consolidated himself as a global DJ: Glastonbury, Coachella, Sónar, The Warehouse Project, or MoMA PS1, in addition to dates with Disclosure. He also releases jungle and breaks as Birds of Sweden.

Young Ethics, Mirrors, and CircoLoco

In 2019, he opened the label Young Ethics with the EP Galazy, preserved in the Sound Archive of the National Library of Sweden, and recorded an Essential Mix for BBC Radio 1. The second album, Mirrors (2021, Ninja Tune), recorded between Berlin and Malmö, refined the sound: less lo-fi veil, more British garage, italo, and crisp house. He was a digital cover star for Mixmag, received reviews in Resident Advisor and Clash, and the live show reached Printworks and The Warehouse Project. In 2022, he released Mirrors (Remixed) with Themba, LSDXOXO, and Moose Dawa. In 2023, he debuted at the Mixmag Lab in London, played at The Lot Radio in New York, and started a monthly residency at CircoLoco (Ibiza). The single Now U Do, with Confidence Man, crossed over to a wider audience; he also remixed The Chemical Brothers, Disclosure, or SHOUSE.

If This Is It, accepting the present

The third album, If This Is It (June 5, 2026, Ninja Tune), traverses nostalgic house, UK garage, and 2000s trance, with guests like SG Lewis, Confidence Man, ARY, TS Graye, or Moyka. Singles like Plush, Hopecore, or If U Like Me confirmed his versatility on the dancefloor, from the saturated heartbreak of 2016 to emotional festival house. Today he is one of the most recognizable selectors of that generation: he continues to fill booths from DC-10 to Printworks without letting go of the club romanticism that made him unmistakable.
