The recent history of GENESI is understood through a very specific tension: club sound, melodic interpretation, and an energy capable of moving from the European underground to large-scale stages without losing its punch. His production style crosses house, tech house, and melodic techno with tense basslines, chopped vocals, and a construction designed for high-impact sets. This balance turned Everything You Have Done into the breakthrough point of his career: the track, boosted by the MEDUZA edit, reached number one on Beatport and ended up in the rotation of international DJs, in addition to accumulating tens of millions of streams.

From Bottai to a sharper identity

Before consolidating this phase, Giovanni Bottai had already released music as Bottai, an alias associated with a background as a musician, producer, composer, and sound engineer. The shift towards GENESI opened up a more direct, contemporary, and dancefloor-focused identity, with an aesthetic less tied to conventional EDM and closer to the intersection of underground culture and major DJ booths. From there came releases and remixes on labels such as REALM, Tomorrowland Music, Catch & Release, Insomniac, AETERNA Records, Diynamic, Truesoul, and Drumcode, reinforcing an increasingly visible position in the international circuit.

The MEDUZA pulse and the connection with the new Italian scene

The creative relationship with MEDUZA has been one of the central pieces of his projection. After Everything You Have Done, GENESI remixed Phone, collaborated on Ecstasy, and later signed the Freak EP on Diynamic alongside the Italian trio, a key reference in his leap toward a global house and melodic techno audience. In parallel, his catalog grew with cuts and collaborations such as Acid, Done, Push Me, See You Sweat with Max Styler, Criminals Move In Silence with Kino Todo, Nomacita with Miss Monique and Carl Bee, Call You Back with Layton Giordani and Be No Rain, Karma with Rivo and Aya Anne, DNA with Adam Beyer and Aya Anne, and Drillo.

Booths that define the project's scale

His live calendar confirms this escalation. GENESI has performed at Hï Ibiza, within the Our House environment alongside MEDUZA and James Hype, and at clubs and festivals such as Studio 338 in London, Cavo Paradiso, Drumsheds, Creamfields UK, BCM Mallorca, Parc Olympique de Montréal, ARC Chicago, Seismic Dance Event, and Ex Macello in Milan, where he performed as direct support for Solomun during Fashion Week. His presence in the Yuma Tent at Coachella 2026 summarizes the current point of the project: an artist born from groove engineering, but now integrated into the global conversation of electronic dance music.
