Beginnings in Chicago

Honey Redmond, globally known by her famous alias Honey Dijon, was born and raised on the South Side of Chicago, surrounded by a middle-class African American family environment that was deeply musical, where R&B and soul records abounded. During her adolescence in the eighties and nineties, coinciding with the explosion and golden age of Chicago house, she began frequenting the underground clubs of her hometown with her parents' approval. Under the tutelage and direct mentorship of iconic local figures such as Derrick Carter and Mark Farina, she began to polish her impeccable technique behind the decks, soaking up the rawest essence of Chicago house, traditional disco, and soul-filled vocals that would define the unmistakable foundation of her sound.

Rise in New York and Global Recognition

At the end of the nineties, Honey decided to move to New York City, a move that would completely transform her artistic trajectory. There she met the legendary Danny Tenaglia and immersed herself fully in the eclectic New York underground circuit, progressively integrating into her style diverse influences of techno and darker rhythms typical of the metropolis's clubs. Her chameleonic and almost telepathic ability to mix multiple musical genres made her an infallible selector. This talent has led her to perform as a headliner at the most prestigious festivals and dance floors on the planet, from the legendary Berghain and Panorama Bar in Berlin, to Printworks in London and Coachella. Her memorable performance at the Boiler Room x Sugar Mountain 2018 in Melbourne is documented as one of the most iconic, energetic, and acclaimed sessions in the platform's history.

Production, Fashion, and Trans Activism

Beyond her absolute mastery of the decks, Honey Dijon is an incredibly prolific producer respected by critics. In 2017 she released her magnificent debut album, The Best of Both Worlds, which was followed in 2022 by the resounding success of her second studio album, Black Girl Magic. Her immense creative talent also led her to co-write and produce important tracks for Beyoncé's award-winning album Renaissance in 2022, thus obtaining massive and commercial musical recognition.

In parallel to her successful career in electronic music, Honey Dijon has established herself as a true fashion icon and a fervent, tireless activist for trans rights. As an African American and transgender woman, she constantly uses her enormous platform to give visibility to her community and tirelessly reclaim the true Black, queer, and marginalized origins of house culture. She has designed soundtracks and collaborated closely with high-fashion brands such as Dior and Louis Vuitton, and has even launched her own clothing line, Honey Fucking Dijon, demonstrating resoundingly that her figure transcends music to impact contemporary global culture in a profound and transversal way.
