The clubber who turned the dancefloor into a compass

Ilario Alicante's career is understood through a very physical relationship with the dancefloor: before establishing himself as an international producer, his way of listening to music was born from dancing, traveling, and observing club energy up close. Musically raised in Livorno, he began experimenting with equipment he assembled himself in his bedroom and soon took that intuition toward a language of techno and house with a direct pulse, built to read the audience's movement without losing depth. Germany and Ibiza were key territories in that nocturnal education, where he ended up refining an idea of a set that is intense, flexible, and deeply connected to the body.

The impact of Vacaciones En Chile

The definitive leap came in 2008 with Vacaciones En Chile, a track that opened his name to the international circuit and marked the start of a very rapid ascent. Shortly after, he reinforced that position with Living Near Africa on Cécille Records, a release that expanded his reach within European house and techno. That same period placed him on the radar of the Cocoon family and led him to perform at Time Warp Rotterdam as one of the youngest names to step onto the festival stage. From there, his schedule began to move through top-tier booths and festivals, with appearances at Amnesia Ibiza, Cocoricò, Ushuaïa Ibiza, Pacha Ibiza, Awakenings, Monegros, and EDC Las Vegas.

Deep Moves, Virgo, and a network of collaborators

Beyond the booth, Alicante has built a discography linked to labels such as Cocoon Recordings, Soma, Drumcode, Cécille Records, Pushmaster Discs, and his own creative environment. With Deep Moves, he opened a platform to release his own music and support like-minded talent, as well as hosting remixes by Nina Kraviz, Matthew Herbert, and Ryan Elliott. In 2016, he launched Virgo and the Virgo Transmissions concept, a more experimental path to work on sound, collaborations, and the visual identity of his universe. In that line of expansion, encounters with Giorgio Moroder and shared works with Dubfire and Kevin de Vries appear, in addition to releases such as Luce, Awakened, Utopia EP, and Rave Soul.

A present of elastic energy

His current sound maintains a recognizable tension between club groove, firm bass, and a rave sensibility that looks both to the nineties and to more modern forms of techno. He is not limited to a closed label: he can approach tech house when looking for traction and swing, or harden the pressure toward a more hypnotic and direct techno. Recent activity, with music like Patched Up alongside La La and his remix of The Night Train, confirms a stage oriented toward large dancefloors without renouncing the personality that made him recognizable: long-haul sets, immediate connection with the audience, and a vision of electronic music as a collective experience.
